SCOTUS to decide if "Jesus" prayers are illegal speech
The Pray In Jesus Name Project ^ | 5/20/13 | Dr. Chaps

Posted on 05/20/2013 6:11:46 PM PDT by Chaps

The U.S. Supreme Court just announced it will hear in October 2013 the case Galloway v. Greece, concerning freedom of speech and legislative prayer.

In 2008 two Greece residents, Susan Galloway and Linda Stephens, filed suit against the town alleging that the town’s habit of having explicitly Christian prayers delivered prior to board meetings flouted the First Amendment. In August 2012, U.S. District Court Judge Charles Siragusa disagreed, ruling that prayers in Jesus’ name were not a violation of the U.S. Constitution.

But a three-judge panel of the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in May 2012 overturned Siragusa’s decision and said the town’s habit of inviting clergy from only churches in Greece indeed could be construed as government endorsement of a particular religion. Houses of worship in Greece are almost exclusively Christian.

Well, you have your opinions. Me, I appreciated the story and the opportunity to help out a real mensch in his efforts to fight liberalism.

In this present national situation, any prayer, evoked or invoked by an American, is good enough for me.

Notice I said, “American”, I did not say a particular religious group, (and I exclude MOOslims from this, because all their reported prayers like us being in this present situation, or worse).

Atheists argue that they have “their rights”, but they exercise those ‘rights’, in trying to shut down the rights of you and me, to pray as we see fit, as individual Americans. So, I exclude them from my statement. You can take them to ‘your prayer closet’. I’ll find a nice piece of wood with the number ‘34’ stamped in the bottom, considering all the help they have given us to make this nation better for our kids, than when we were kids.

How Orwellian!

Pornography - "Protected Speech!"

Burning the U.S. Flag - "Protected Speech!"

Works of "art" that depict the Theotocus as a whore - "Protected Speech!"

Depictions of Jesus Christ immersed in urine - "Protected Speech!"

Any mention of "God" in a public forum - Violation of "Separation of Church and State."

Prayers invoking Jesus - "Illegal Speech!"

Double-Plus-Ungood!!!

"Riamh nár dhruid ó sbairn lann!"

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Christians pray in The name of Jesus, the Sacrificial Lamb - our advocate.

We have no need to succumb to Muslims. None at all.

Our money does NOT say "In Allah We Trust"!

If SCOTUS reverses (and I expect they will), City Council meetings in Dearborn, MI will begin with prayers to Allah.

The only entity that can violate the 1st Amendment, imo, is Congress. When activist judges claim that acts of religious expression by people who aren’t federal lawmakers violate the 1st Amendment, such judges are wrongly legislating the PC interpretation of 1A from the bench imo. In fact, the only thing being “flouted” in this example is the PC interpretation of 1A imo.

Sadly, judges get away with legislating the unconstitutional stifling of religious expression from the bench because parents are not making sure that their children are being taught the Constitution, as the Founding States had intended for it to be understood, in the nation’s schools, in this case the difference between legislative, executive and judicial powers.

The remedy with respect to this example is the following. Since the states and the people have the 10th Amendment protected power to regulate religious issues, it’s up to local citizens to work with their local government leaders to either allow or prohibit local leaders from volunteering prayers, depending on what legal local majority voters want. And if local government leaders ignore the majority voters then majority voters, not misguided judges, can give their “leaders” the boot in the next election.

And if locals don’t mind the prayers, then as long as nobody’s 14th Amendment protections are being violated, local government leaders can start board meetings by praying to Jesus imo.

Perhaps not for you, but the law of the land is still dictated by the SCOTUS.

We now have a bunch of people in black robes who will decide the fate of Jesus in the US.

History is repeating itself — Pilate was an innocent dumbass who tried to save his own career from caesar’s displeasure, but these SC judges do not have that excuse. They have job security to the nth degree.

“It is absolutely incredible how powerful the name Jesus Christ is... Just His name- alone sets fear and trembling in people’s hearts.”

Yes it is. I often use that very fact as the strongest anecdotal evidence to make the case that Jesus is the Christ.

SCOTUS’ job security will vanish when the economy collapses amid a civil war or other calamity they help bring about. “Thinking themselves wise, they became fools.” (Romans 1)

Perception isn’t everything, reality is. But the perception of reality (acknowledged or not) determines how we think about ourselves, others, the future, and God. For most Americans reality is found in the Bible. Obama and others like him are trying to remove the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and especially his manifestation as Jesus Christ, from world recognition. It is a death wish for everyone and everything started by Lucifer, the one they worship.

So it would be legal to pray to God (The Father) but not the Jesus (The Son)? The SCOTUS is ruling as to the Unity of the Holy Trinity?

[[SCOTUS to decide if “Jesus” prayers are illegal speech]]

Well let’s see- do “Jesus Prayers” FORCE anyone to convert to Christianity under penalty of law? No? Hmmm

Do “Jesus Prayers” Establish a national religion which MUST be obeyed under penalty of the law? No? Hmmm

Case solved- “Jesus Prayers” are NOT illegal speech- Ouir supreme court is NOT in business to ‘protect people’s overly sensitive feelings’ They are there to protect our constitutional rights- period! Show us where the constitution mentions that peopel can’t Pray to Jesus or God- when they can do that, then maybe they will have an actual case to hear-

Perhaps the Scotus shoudl reconvene on the unconstitutuional health care law and rehear the case to find out where our govenrment is allowed to FORCE peopel to buy soemthign they DO NOT WANT

NEVER have we been FORCED to buy anything- We could, if we so chose to- Go compeltely off grid, livign entirely off the land and never pay another dime to Anyone IF we so chose to do so- But now that INALIENABLE RIGHT has been taken from us thanks to the traitor john roberts and we are now FORCED to buy health care or else pay a penalty- If we choose not to pay the pnalty, we are made criminals-

We’ll see how many traitors siude with hte left in the SC this time
