Hurricane Katrina was the rehearsal and this was the dress rehearsal. What'll be the dry run?

Former Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) said it is “hard to imagine what could justify directing the entire population of the city to ‘shelter in place.’”

Chechens on the loose with bombs, guns, and grenades.

WHERE DID ALL THE BULLETS GO?

We’ve all seen the video tapes. On three different occasions Friday there were FUSILLADES heard. What happened to all the rounds that missed their mark?

One huge thing that was missing from the wall-to-wall coverage of the bombing was an explanation of the “shelter in place” order.

Was it a lawful order? Did it require executive action from the governor? Was it just a polite request with no legal ramifications? Inquiring minds want to know.

The pretty conservative guys I work with saw no problem with the lock down. I did.

>>There are already worries that the effort to protect the people of Boston contained an element of overreaction.<<

I dunno — do you think the Titanic suffered “an element” of damage?

The shutdown of Boston was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

It does worry me how easily the Boston and Watertown population were subjected to martial law, even if they did not call it that.
And police going from house to house.
Question for those who were there, did the cops actually go INTO each house and apartment and search it from top to bottom or did they just knock on the front door and ask?

I have seen reports that the police were systematically searching homes with no search warrant. That, to me, is very troubling.

Obama went to Boston Thursday and said, “That’s why a bomb can’t beat us. That’s why we don’t hunker down. That’s why we don’t cower in fear,” at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. The next day the entire Boston area was “hunkered down,” everyone there was huddled in their houses, afraid to go outside, businesses and schools were closed, transit was shut down. It was a ghost town, “Hunkeredville.” Am I the only person who noticed the irony?

Some forward thinking by DHS in getting those MRAPs on the streets, huh? What timing!

You beat me to it. Lockdown is their default mode. Katrina was absolutely their big chance to show everyone who’s boss.

Sheltering in place is what happens when men are emasculated by progressives. In metrosexual terms, minute men takes on a sexual connotation instead of memories of our forefathers that were prepared to defend their freedoms and liberties. Presently there are too many Americans that are willing to cede their freedoms and liberties for a little security. We all know where that leads.

What I found most ironic about yesterday's sheltering in place is that minutes after it was lifted, a citizen, not the authorities, discovered terrorist #2.

The police action you saw in Boston is what we’ll face if push comes to shove. That’s what the government can marshal in one city if it needs to.

“Former Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) said it is “hard to imagine what could justify directing the entire population of the city to ‘shelter in place.’”

That’s pure BULLSHIT...it was a 20 square block area were they were in ACTIVE pursuit of armed and deangerous TERRORISTS that had already set off two bombs...shot a cop...engaged in a high speed pursuit while lobbing pipe bombs out the window...

I listened to the boston scanners all night...they werent “systematiclly” searching houses...they were knocking...doing quick looks...checking on residents...and clearing back yards looking for armed terrorist on the run and making sure he hadnt taken anyone hostage...

And since when do we take shit that democrats say seriously ANYWAYS???

In all the pressers given by the mayor, guv'nor, etc., they all used the word "request" for people to stay in their homes. A real news organization would look into what these LEO's would have done/did do to people who did not heed their "request".

It was all a dry run anyway. Now they know they can control a significant part of the populace with scary actions and words. The "next time" something like this occurs, there won't be a "request".

Were they really entering and searching homes without warrants? If they had knocked on my door, I would have told them that we were safe, hadn't seen anyone suspicious (unless I had, of course), and to move along (after wishing them luck and to stay safe).

Finally, I thought it was quite funny that the local news "media" beat the FBI to the sister's residence!!

One time in my corner of Texas, there was a local jailbreak, with a loose escapee regarded as armed and dangerous. That night, a foggy night, I had to make a drive to visit my parents, ten miles away. On EVERY single street corner, throughout the neighborhood and entire town, there were about 5 to 8 citizens standing by, with rifles in hands. All on the lookout, protecting their community.

It was really something to behold. I could be wrong, but this isn’t something I’d expect to see up in the liberal, gun-hating northeast.

Never was there a better fully illustrated reasoning to be self-equipped for personal safety. Of course a gun is an essential ingredient, but not the only weapon and shield for this time of the new normal. As Americans, we tend to look over the heads of the spectators to also view the race, paying no attention to what threats lie within the 20 foot diameter of our immediate surroundings...and we would not notice the backpack casually laid at out feet. Just deciphering the odds, it would not happen to us...and the odds do prove a very slight chance of this happening to you. But that is not a reason to continue not paying attention. Our focus must change, and we must refocus on threats nearby, watch the race, but to our visuals, scan the immediate area frequently and often...like a pilot continually scamming hisnaircraft’a gauges for threats. The New Normal is here...it has been here for some time regardless of the politicians words. And we know we can expect more. The authorities are efficient at catching people who create the havoc...but they are incapable of preventing it...that will always be left to us.

Wasn’t martial law imposed to quell the race riots of the 1960’s?
