Does this apply to anyone in the household? Anyone in a family on anti-depressants, no guns in that house?
What fraction of households would that be, 80%?

Okay, taking guns away from people on psychotropic drugs. What could possibly go wrong?...........

This illustrates that Confiscation is the purpose of background checks.

Okay, taking guns away from people on psychotropic drugs. What could possibly go wrong?........... So, if you have a gun permit in NY, and you start feeling anxious and depressed about something, you DO NOT try to get treatment or you will lose your permit.

Suggested scenario:
A woman has her home broken into and she is raped.
She is then told by the government social workers that counseling is available.
She avails herself of the counseling.
Now, she can’t obtain a firearm to protect herself because of the psych counseling, even though she should be the one most in need of a firearm for self protection.

I guess HIPPA is useless, unless they are using it against you.

This is one excuse today, there will be another tomorrow.
The one responsibility people with mental illness have is to get it treated. Now they have one more reason to avoid it. They will have their rights taken away.
Another example of a (not so) well-meaning law with (not so) unintended consequences.

But we can't arrest illegal aliens or drug addicts in the ER because that might make them not seek medical attention when they need it.
We are their enemy and they're just harassing us because that's what your enemy does to you.

Are they making ANY effort to send notices to all the criminals and gang bangers to hand in their guns?

Does this apply to anyone in the household? Of course.
They will correlate addresses and the stupid gun owner's license addresses and Bingo - no guns for you!
To: 2ndDivisionVet
Isn’t anyone challenging this, like right now?

As one who has gone toe to toe with the medical industry, I have come to the conclusion that HIPPA was more about protecting physicians, hospitals and medical device companies that it was about protecting the patient.
