AUSTIN, Texas - A rally for tougher gun laws becomes a heated debate when gun rights advocates decided to bring a message of their own on the south side of the Capitol.
The organizers of the Texas Rally for Gun Sense say they're not against law abiding gun owners.
They say they're fighting for universal background checks and they want to limit assault weapons and high capacity magazines. They also oppose putting any guns on a school campus.
Among the speakers at the rally were people who's lives have been touched by gun violence.
"She could have fought him off, she would have won if he hadn't had the gun," said Judy Johnson, the sister of a gun violence victim.

When a couple of gun rights activists showed up at the event, the crowd rushed to the front to block their signs from media and the crowd. Police had to step in for crowd control as speakers took the stage and the confrontation heated up.

Austin city councilman Mike Martinez even addressed the 2 men, saying the message on their sign is incorrect.
"We will make your sign legitimate shortly, so you hang on to that," Councilman Martinez told them....

Dozens? Like in 24? Quite a crowd. //sarcasm off//
And mostly same-sex couples, I’m sure...
Now, there is a bill in our legislature that states any town/city that passes an unconstitutional gun law will be in violation of state law and have no standing. In other words, state law prevails over town/city law.
We are not going to let Texas towns/cities ban guns.
“She could have fought him off, she would have won if he hadn’t had the gun,”
AHA. I finally get it. If guns kill people, which is their job, then guns have must be required to obey gun safe zones. The trouble begins when rapists force guns to go with them to a rape.
New law needed. Forcing a gun to participate in a crime. OH, yeah. We already have that: use of a gun in the comission of a crime.
Of course, if she had carried a gun she would have been equally matched. Even if he did not have a gun her CC could have prevented his attack.
Any way you slice it an unarmed citizen is an unprotected citizen.
Yes they are.
A gun ban being enacted in Texas would be as likely as Sarah Palin being elected mayor of Berkeley, California.
Slim and none, and slim has just left the building.
Yeah, 'cause who would want to protect our children?
All ya have to do is remember the 1974 Ma'alot massacre in Israel. Palestinian terrorists of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine murdered 25 children & teachers. Almost immediately afterwards, all the schools had armed teachers/security.
IT NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN!
But......why throw in fact when all they're concerned with is feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelings.
How I LOATHE the left.
Ooooh. Dozens.
Pretty pathetic for Texas’s lib-land central.
Tyrant Kim Un Hussein must be very pleased that his efforts to FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA are progressing so easily.
Sadly over the last decade my state has had an influx of idiots moving here lowering the IQ. Most are within 20 minutes of the City of Autism. That said I am beginning to prefer all the illegals over the liberal morons from out of state.
I don’t live in the city but get the news, it is amazing the asinine things this city council tries to do and sometimes succeeds. Like their recent ban of all plastic bags. When you shop you had better bring your own. Even the stupid police chief is a transplant from Kalifornia and went to DC the other day to tout gun control with Nobama.
And a pro gun rally with hundreds or thousands will get no coverage at all.
