Following the wet summer in the UK last year, the Met Office provided the Environment Agency with a briefing document, giving an overview of the weather. This was discussed at the September Board Meeting of the Environment Agency, which Met Office officials attended.
As far as I know, this document, which I obtained through FOI, has never entered the public domain. It is brutally honest in admitting how little the Mets scientists understand about what affects our climate, and, in particular, what caused the unusual weather last year. This is in stark contrast to many of the hyped up claims, made in public statements in the recent past by, among others, the Met Office themselves.

The article addresses:
Drought
Jet Stream Changes
Madden-Julian Oscillation
Decline of Arctic Ice
The CAGW crowd is losing ground fast.
From Wikipedia:
The MaddenJulian oscillation (MJO) is the largest element of the intraseasonal (3090 days) variability in the tropical atmosphere. It is a large-scale coupling between atmospheric circulation and tropical deep convection.[1][2] Rather than being a standing pattern (like ENSO) it is a traveling pattern, propagating eastwards at approximately 4 to 8 m/s, through the atmosphere above the warm parts of the Indian and Pacific oceans. This overall circulation pattern manifests itself in various ways, most clearly as anomalous rainfall. This was discovered by Roland Madden and Paul Julian
From the Met Office document:
Understanding the initiation of an MJO event is, however, largely unpredictable, and remains one of the great unsolved challenges of tropical meteorology.
When the Economist Magazine, by no means a conservative organ, flipped last month; the picture changed.
The left will never admit their rush to judgement. They will just tone it down.
Whatever.
The article ends by saying that the Met Office admits in private that they don’t understand the basic processes that affect our climate, but they won’t admit it in public.
This document would never have seen the light of day if Homewood hadn’t pursued it through FOI.
Aren’t all MetOffice employees graduates of East Angelica?
That would be East Anglia.
And probably "yes" to the question. They all seem to be equally arrogant and dogmatic about "science," without being true scientists.
(Not that EA is on par w/ MIT.)
I don’t know if they all went to EA, but I do know that everyone at the Met Office has their BBC degree.
Oops: Nixing the Keystone pipeline is probably the more environmentally costly option
