Liberal Arts degrees used to be worth something because it taught people to think critically.

Nowadays, universities don’t want such critical thinking because it would ruin their promotion of propaganda.

IMO if you’re not getting a degree in something applied like Computer Science, Engineering, or Chemistry than it’s essentially taking on 30K of debt for a glorified High School Diploma thanks to grade inflation and lowered standards.

In the mid-50s Nikita Khrushchev said openly that “your teachers will be taught and they won’t even know that they’re being taught. Your children will be taught and they won’t even know that they’re being taught.”

At the time the communist media in this country dismissed the words as being only ‘rhetoric’.

However, his words have come to pass.

At 12 I sold worms and answered the phone in a small town taxi office. At 13 I picked cherries. At 14 I picked strawberries/raspberries/cucumbers. At 15 I worked before and after school in the attendance office and picked fruit in the summer. Then I got the job at the school during the summer and at the cannery at night. I got work ethic and money to buy my own shoes with. I eventually sold insurance and became very successful at it, working sometimes 20 hour days to get the job done. I am so grateful for my young job experience because I would never have had the chance to develop the work ethic without it.
