WFAN-TV ^ | April 1, 2013

Connecticut state lawmakers came to an agreement Monday on what they said will become some of the nation’s toughest gun control laws.

As CBS 2′s Lou Young reported, the deal included a ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines, such as the one that was used in the Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre in Newtown. The deal also calls for a new registry for existing high-capacity magazines, and background checks that would apply to private gun sales.

Another registry would be set up for dangerous weapons offenders.

The deal also calls for an expansion of the Connecticut assault weapons ban, listing more types of high-powered guns.

Lawmakers also agreed to create a so-called eligibility certificate, where legitimate gun owners would submit to fingerprinting, a firearms training course, and a nationwide background check.

“It has been a thoughtful process and thorough process, and we are prepared now, as the Connecticut State Legislature, to move forward,” said Senate President Donald E. Williams Jr. (D-Brooklyn, Conn.)

Connecticut House Speaker Brendan Sharkey (D-Hamden) said he hopes the agreement sends a message to Washington, and the rest of the country....

Oh, it did, Brendan. It sent the loud and clear message that Connecticut is a great place to be FROM. Because only submissive, government-worshipping liberals would want to live there.

Sends me a message. Connecticut is full of Yankee Communists that want to disarm America in contradiction to America’s Constitution.

Personally I would like to give all of New England back to the British.

All these rapid kneejerks from the gun grabbing Nazis that are only going to be shot down by SCOTUS. The Second Amendment hasn’t been repealed yet. What part of “infringed” don’t the Nazis understand? I suggest that people who hate the Bill of Rights pack their bags and leave. Kim Jong-un would love to have them.

“Personally I would like to give all of New England back to the British.”

Really? ALL of New England?

Maine has a conservative TEA Party guy as our governor, who has repeatedly said he will protect the Second Amendment and the right to own a firearm. Maine is mostly rural and has a high rate of firearm ownership.

Meanwhile, Maryland has a gun-grabbing lefty as governor.

Give Maine back to Britain? Thanks, but no thanks.

(State decides who warrants a gun)

Nothing new about that; to get a carry permit in New Jersey you have to “prove the need”. Unless you’re politically connected or famous, the proof is never sufficient.

Maine also has two Senators who always vote with Democrats but call themselves Republicans.

Yes Maryland has a Craphead for Governor , two a-holes as Senators, and Steny Hoyer as Representative. I can always move, and in fact I am giving it some deep thought.

Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins keep (or kept) getting elected because the democrats running against them were ultra-left wingers.....so bad, they actually made Snowe and Collins look like conservatives in comparison, which they are not.

The replacement for Snowe, the so-called “independent” Sen. Angus King, is worse than Snowe. Mikey Bloomberg gave money to King’s successful senate run last November, and King is not very supportive of the 2nd Amendment. He’s rather two-faced, just like West Virginia’s Sen. Manchin.

Maine has, to a lesser degree, the same problem that Nevada, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina and other states have....an influx of voters from liberal states who bring their liberal voting patterns with them.

There is a lot of poverty in rural Maine, so those individuals support big-government programs and vote for democrats, sad to say. But these same people, while voting for democrats, have large numbers of firearms in their homes, just like their counterparts in the rural South and American West.

Amen to that! Throw in New York, Maryland, NJ, CA, OR, WA, and Wash DC for good measure.....and never allow them to rejoin the USA.

Maryland is split into 4 sections, The Estern Shore—Mostly Conservative
The Western Shore Mostly Conservative Northern Maryland Mostly liberal and Baltimore, Howard Counties and Baltimore, and Annapolis and Southern Maryland, Mostly Conservative but being invaded by refugees from PG Cuunty and Wash, DC.
Baltimore , Annapolis, Montgomery, and PG County and Northern Md. unfortunately are filled with liberals and Obama voters. There are too many of them for straight thinking people to overcome.
