The EU was destined to die die to deep seeded nationalism.

Sadly we have gotten ourselves wrapped up in this with the world markets.

At $1.2858, its down 0.76 percent for the day.

In spite of everything, a Euro is still worth more than a US$. LOL.

Nationalism always trumps internationalism. The USSR was killed by this, so was united Christendom, The British and Roman Empires etc... Always has, always will. It is part of the tribalism hot wired into our DNA.

The USSR was killed by this

Ironically, it may very well be the Russians who restore it to Europe.

I never thought that creating a whole new layer of government was going to make anyone’s lives any better in Europe.

USSR was designed to spread World Socialism and Communism. Russia just wants power and trade/military bases. The two headed eagle might be worse than the Communists. Its old school hardball mixed with chess.

I have always thought the downfall of the EU would be Nationalism.

It is pretty tough for stoic bavarians and finnish types to embrace the “let your hair down and party” spanish and greek types.

On top of that there are thousands of years of nationalism and feudalism.
