The campaigning zeal for gay rights of Peter Tatchell has earned him a measure of broad support to the same extent it has resulted in profound disquiet and suspicion. Remarkably, in unequal measure, even religious opinion is divided.
Exactly what are his ambitions and from where does he draw inspiration?
Foremost, he supports gay rights under the banner of “Human Rights, Democracy, Global Justice, LGBTI Freedom”. The aim is to pursue a specific interest relating to homosexuality. Not surprisingly, this has led many to think his concern for human rights is broadly based. They are wrong.
As a gay 18-year-old Australian, anti-Vietnam war draft-dodger, he came to the UK in 1971 and set up home with a 16-year-old gay lover in Shepherd’s Bush. The pair despised the law and so defied it. He quickly joined the Gay Liberation Front/Angry Brigade, which was a neo-Marxist revolutionary group of radical students at the London School of Economics.
The Gay Liberation Front (GLF) saw the patriarchal family as the greatest threat to the domination of society by homosexuals. Their political base was rooted in extreme feminism and the violent American Black Power Movement that had direct connections to the Frankfurt School and cultural Marxism.
The London based GLF; whose motto was “Two, four, six, eight: Copulate and smash the state”, rejected the narrow mainstream gay rights agenda in favour of an outright smashing of conventional society in a “non-violent” revolution. Two London activists, Aubrey Walter and Bob Mellor; had travelled to the USA for political inspiration.
The aim was to target schools, the Church, media, words [linguistics], employment, law and psychiatry. They thought the gender-role system to be the root cause of homosexual repression. Continuing this theme, in 2008 Tatchell declared that the straight male machismo underpins all tyranny.
Over the years he has drawn disapproval over the controversial question of children’s sexual rights. In fact he has contributed to a book about intergenerational sex by the founding father of the now defunct Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE) – Warren Middleton. They considered that all inhibitions against the right of the child to say yes to sex should be removed. Incidentally, in 2011 the Old Bailey jailed Middleton and other former PIE members for possessing harrowing drawings of young boys being raped.
In 1987 Tatchell wrote a letter to The Guardian defending a book about “Boy Love” describing the effort as “courageous”. He later rationalised this when criticised by Peter Hitchens in 2010 as support for free speech. He then pointed out that several of his friends had gained “great joy” from having sex with an adult, some as young as nine-years-old. None felt abused and that not all sex involving children is “unwanted, abusive or harmful.”
This should come as no surprise because Tatchell is a fan of Professor Gilbert Herdt who has made a career out of researching the ritual barbaric pederastic practices of a remote Papua New Guinea tribe. He thinks that Herdt offers a rational and informed perspective of sexual relations between young and older people, “…where consenting inter-generational sex is considered normal, beneficial and enjoyable by old and young alike.”
In truth, these boys; some as young a six; are forcibly raped and induced repeatedly to ingest semen through fellatio and irrumatio, to which Herdt bizarrely alludes to a “…semen conservation theory.” Resistance is punished.
Tatchell observes that, “Far from being harmed, Prof Herdt says the boys grow up happy, well-adjusted husbands and fathers.”
There is no evidence he is a paedophile, but he shows considerable sympathy for what they do.
If that is not sufficiently worrying, there are concerns elsewhere. He openly identifies as a “sexual subversive” whose revolutionary aim is to radically overturn conventional society.
In 2010 he observed in The Independent that, “The core message of the GLF was that genuine queer emancipation involves changing society, rather than adapting to it.” This requires, “… a full-scale cultural revolution, to overturn centuries of male heterosexual domination.” He further bragged, “We queers subverted the conventional gender system.”
He was a prominent supporter the GLF who espoused a non-violent revolution in cultural values, the sanctity of marriage, the nuclear family, monogamy and patriarchy
American Jack Nichols, former leading veteran gay activist, editor of Gay Today and responsible for resurrecting the defunct Mattachine Society, which was initially set up by Harry Hay who was an ardent supporter of the American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA), considers Peter Tatchell as an anti-cultural “visionary”.
This anti-culture embraces all forms of aberrant behaviour that includes homosexuality, autoeroticism, transvestitism, fetishism, sadomasochism and paedophilia.
Considered more carefully, this puts a very different light on Tatchell’s motivation.
He rejects conventional morality, traditional values and the centrality of the family as the core issue of a liberal democratic society. He wishes to undermine the male and female modalities and the institutions that underpin their value and importance in civil society. For him, homophobia is the new perversion.
Since his aim is a full-scale revolution of ‘queer liberation’ not ‘gay rights’ it is undemocratic. Because he firmly rejects assimilation, his stance is manifestly totalitarian and given that he wishes to subvert the status quo, he is clearly anarchicistic. His sentiments are unquestionably revolutionary. It’s a smash-and-grab plan in the hope everything will turn out right. This is a manifest mockery of Human Rights, Democracy and Global Justice.
He does not seek parity, but dominance! His narcissistic dictum is that homosexuals are more equal than others. On the face of things, he cunningly appeals to uplifting liberationist aspirations, but the real aim is to ensnare and subdue. His corroding view of conventional morality in the form of the family is highly prejudicial and the ultimate aim is to demolish it. Thus, his political and social base is not just contradictory – it is corrosively catastrophic, which would result in unimagined suffering, chaos and confusion.
He is the equivalent of the shifty old sly fox that advises the hospitable hens on chicken coop safety by making it more fox-friendly. The result is carnage – the gory gnashing of teeth and the callous crushing of supple bones.
Licence is cloaked as liberty and freakishness as freedom. On the surface the evidence is for human rights, but the real facts are about inhuman wrongs.
Cultural Marxism is destroying our family bonds, our religious traditions, our democratic liberties and cultural values and that is precisely what Peter Tatchell and his gay conspiratorial friends defiantly aim for.
The magnitude and scale of this challenge is unsurpassed in modern history.
