Fox has become ridiculous.
Cruz’s father was also a US citizen at the time of his birth.

Obama Sr however never had allegiance to anyone.

He wasn't but it doesn't matter. Cruz was born an American citizen by virtue of his mother's U.S. citizenship. He didn't have to naturalize. If he wants to run for President, the Senate will extend to him the same courtesy they did McCain and pass a resolution declaring him eligible. Birthers might stomp their feet and file a bunch of lawsuits that go nowhere but there won't be any serious legal obstacles that Cruz will have to overcome to get on the ballot.

“Cruz’s father was also a US citizen at the time of his birth.”

Rafel Cruz escaped from Cuba in the 1950’s and was a legal immigrant/resident of the USA at the time of Ted’s birth. He did not become a U.S. citizen until 2005.

Cruz’ mother was born in Delaware.

Both parents were temporarily living in Calgary (for work purposes) at the time of Cruz’ birth in 1970.

I am not sure if the laws at the time would make Cruz a “natural born citizen” for the purposes of eligibility for Presidency - any legal scholars here?

No, Cruz's father didn't become a citizen until 2005.

Why do you say that? This report says his father did not become a US citizen until 2005:

From what I have read your statement, “Cruz’s father was also a US citizen at the time of his birth. “ is incorrect.

Wish like hell he was NBC, having campaigned for him in both Primary and General, there is no doubt Cruz is the right man, just slightly the wrong place.

Although its a given the dems will never adhere to NBC or much else in the Constitution, should we, who do beleive in the Constitution, now also look the other way if NBC is in doubt for one of our own? I hope not, as its said “once a camel’s nose is under the tent....”

FOX does not WANT Cruz to be eligible, b/c he is brilliant and conservative. And he means it. So sorry Ann Coulter and FOX, screw you. If Cruz runs, he has my vote. Unless Palin runs as well; then, I’ll have a tough call. Bob

My information has it that Cruz’s father was a Cuban living in Canada when Ted was born and who actually supported Castro for a time.

Actually, they’re technically right.

My son was born in Germany, in an American Army hospital to
two American parents, but he is considered a “naturalized”
citizen...and he has dual citizenship, since we had to register
him at the Wurzburg city hall. He can’t be president either...
not that he wants to be. :)

Cruz said yesterday his father was not a citizen yet at the time of his birth. Plus he was born in Canada. Probably people said this already, just getting to the thread.

I think the elder Cruz became a citizen in 2005...long after Ted was born

Also, I think they were in Canada on a job...not as immigrants.

I think Cruz had a US birth certificate from birth...

but only the Shadow knows for sure!

Fox news sucks. I no longer watch them. I have even quit listening to Rush. I have had it with all of them. The RINOs, the loud mouths, all of them. They all make me sick to my stomach and I have just quit listening to any of them. I come here to find out what is going on in the world. I agree and of course disagree with what a lot post here, but at least here, we are mostly of the same shade, Red, White, and Blue.
