Did you know that 30 years ago today Ronald Reagan first called the Soviet Union the Evil Empire in a speech delivered at a meeting of the National Association of Evangelicals?
Calling communism the focus of evil in the modern world, his otherwise rather routine speech electrified and polarized the political class, as it was delivered at a time when Congress was debating a resolution in support of a "nuclear freeze," a doctrine then supported, not surprisingly, by the Soviet Union. Its still supported today by Russia, their successor of evil.
And apparently its still supported by Reagans successor as well:
Tell Putie I just need a little more space to flex my executive powers
who has a lot more flexibility now that his historic, first reelection is over.
Butt dont worry: we wont be hearing much about it because were going to be putting on another circus in New York to keep everyone entertained. Yes, you read that right: Suleiman Abu Ghaith will be put on trial in New York! And it was all Big Guys idea:
(snip)Several senior administration officials tell TIME Obama exercised the waiver in Abu Ghaiths case after consulting his top aides, opting to send Ghaith to trial in the Southern District of New York rather than to Gitmo.
Like father, like son-in-law
White Comedian, Paul Shanklin for Rush Limbaugh
Wow! Good plan! Makes you wonder WTF Big Guy was thinking when he decided to try members of al Qaeda like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Suleiman Abu Ghaith in Gitmo after he decided to try them in the Big Apple - before he decided to try them in the Big Apple (again)??? I guess he was just trying to WTF.(snip)
With this masterful utilization of his nothing up my sleeve skills, Big Guy has dispatched all of our media lapdogs and al-Qaeda terrorists to New York to cover the trial. This gives him the flexibility he needs to haggle the terms of (our unilateral) nuclear disarmament with the new Axis of Evil behind closed doors. Transparently, of course.
Butt enough of that. Its Friday. Lets take a brief look back at the week were leaving behind:
Talk about an axis of evil!
