If it were up to me, we would have ONE assistance program, a monthly cash dole. NO section 8, no food stamps, no free cell phones, no disability and not even unemployment insurance (same program). It would be the same minimal amount nationally with states free to add on if they wish.

Let them figure out how to manage their money during that month, I think they’ll figure things out within a few.

One real factor in the multiplicity of programs is the number of bureaucrats and administrators that run them. It’s not just the recipients of the aid that benefit from all this.
Just like the post office, any “streamlining” will be opposed by a large squadron of govt employees.

Why not MRE’s, C-Rats or K-Rats for people my age. Let them all come to a central point and claim their share.

Try trading THOSE for drugs or alcohol!
