Those that took high school Spanish will recognize a bastardized of the phrase they learned. Originally it was a greeting of welcome My house is your house. Through an orderly process we have welcomed immigrants from all over the world into our house. But now we are hearing that the orderly process is broken that there is only one way to fix it. Using the same solution from 1986 that worked so well we are told it must be repeated. These illegals and their advocates want as Disney calls a SAP (Special Assistance Pass) that allow some to the head of the line for free rides. For those 12 million telling us what to reform so they can get their own SAP, the phrase of greeting might as well be Your house is my House.

Because of the sheer number of illegals estimated to be in the country there is no doubt something is not working. But is it the immigration process that must be reformed? Using the Department of Homeland securitys 2011 numbers, over one million legally immigrated, over 3 million temporary workers came, almost 2 million students and fifty six thousand refugees were welcomed. Those same numbers show an estimated five hundred thousand came uninvited or just 12 percent. When you do the math after 25 years since the last Fix twelve million are awaiting their free ride. That number is dwarfed by the one hundred and fifty million that actually had invitations to the party.
When you look at all the numbers the plight of illegals looks a little different. If you ran a store and 12% of your customers were stealing would it be wise to open an express line for 10 items shoplifted or less? According to the DHSs site each time reform is debated you can see the numbers of illegals increase like black Friday shoppers at Wal-Mart.
So what should be reformed, our immigration system or our enforcement of existing laws? It would seem the biggest obstacle to just walking right in these days is the border. Why is it so easy to hide in plain sight once you are across? What about the E-verify system we paid for? It is free but not mandatory and only about 3% of employers use the system. Add to that the current administrations pandering for replacement voters. It makes it easy to stay, find work and enjoy the benefits America showers on its poor.
In 1986 it was 3 million, now we are facing 12 million. Will we be debating 48 million in twenty five years? The answer is yes, if we dont fix the real problem. Not the one outlined by those that stand to profit at the expense of those that followed the rules. We dont need to build a Berlin Wall, our immigration system is working just fine thank you. All we need to do is enforce the law then why would you sneak into America if there were no jobs, no welfare, no food stamps or pandering politicians.
To those that disagree Mi casa es mi casa and we dont need no stinkin badges to repel invaders.
That’s truly atrocious writing. Incapacity to properly form a plural, just to point out one deficiency, will not further your cause. People might think you’re an idiot.
Now I feel like one. Is the mistake in the spanish?
Sorry for pointing it out, Steve. “Illegal’s” is not the plural of “illegal”. There’s a number of further mistakes in the article.
If you’re publishing an article, a thorough proofreading -perhaps by a second person- goes a long way to *not* distract from an otherwise good message.
Dont apologize. One of the reasons I post is so I can get better. Honestly I hate criticism, but I need it to improve. After I replied I saw the possessive and not plural in my comments. Thanks for taking the time to help.
Glad to ‘help’. Best of luck with your future writing!
