Ramseys were indicted in JonBenet's death

BOULDER, Colo., Jan. 27 (UPI) -- A grand jury indicted John and Patsy Ramsey in their daughter's death in 1999 but the Boulder, Colo., prosecutor declined to try the case, jurors said.

The couple have maintained their innocence after finding their young daughter JonBenet Ramsey slain in the basement of their home on Christmas night 1996.

A grand jury convened in the case indicted the couple with a class II felony, child abuse resulting in death. Members of the grand jury and others in the case told the Boulder (Colo.) Daily Camera the panel handed down the criminal indictment, but District Attorney Alex Hunter declined to sign it, believing the evidence didn't amount to enough to prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.

Grand juries are only required to determine probable cause to indict someone of a crime...

I meant to say the feeling of sickness that came over us the NEXT day, as the case first hit the airwaves.

Incidentally, this investigator wrote a book (i read it a while ago) and came to the conclusion that Jon Benet wet her bed, mom was really irritated, and while cleaning her up, mom either shoved her or yanked her, causing her to hit her head on the tub (or sink?) in her bathroom. Serious head injury resulted. Mom panicked and set up the kidnapping/ransom scenario.

Her main cause of death was a garrat around the neck, I think the mom shoved her, she fell over and hit her head and went comatose and her mom freaked out and killed her rather than face any sort of child abuse charges...

If her mom had called 911 and got her hospitalized for her head trauma she would have recovered and she could have claimed she tripped and fell or something, but her mom was so vicariously living through her she went completly koo koo when that all seemed to fall apart...

[ In order to make the Intruder Theory work, we have to increase the entities to an almost absurd level, beginning with the ransom note. No killer sits down, in the house of the victim, and writes a 2-and-a-1/2 page ransom note WITH A PEN FOUND IN THE HOUSE ON A NOTEPAD ALSO FOUND IN THE HOUSE. ]

Kidnappers usually snatch and grab first, then the ransom note comes back later several hours or even a day later. Or if it is preplanned the note is written ahead of time and left at the site of the abduction.

This was a GIANT red flag concerning this and pointed to it being a sloppy attempt at the perp who was an insider trying to cover their arse.

You’re correct. It was Steve Thomas. It’s a pretty good book. I didn’t follow the case too closely at the time. It was *always* on the news it seemed and I kind of tuned it out (I was in my mid-20’s, self absorbed, etc.). But I find it so sad and curious a case now. I can see how tragic it was at the time, as you so aptly described your experience, now that I’m older.

You are so correct on Occam’s Razor! I believe the pen was capped and put back, too. What kidnapper does that?

I recommend this book.Kolar does a good job of putting all the other theories to rest. The reader is left with the impression of Burke not realizing he harmed his sister and the parents covering it up.Works well with Grand Jury saying indictment on child abuse. At this point no-one can be prosecuted because of the statue of limitation.
“Foreign Faction - Who Really Kidnapped JonBenet? [Hardcover]
A. James Kolar (Author)”
“A former lead investigator in the JonBenet Ramsey homicide case breaks six years of silence. Foreign Faction blows the cover off the lone-intruder / sexual predator theory and reveals startling new evidence that heretofore has only been seen by a select few. Explore the journey of these discoveries, and determine for yourself who really was responsible for the kidnap and murder of the childhood beauty queen, JonBenet Ramsey.”

For me, the biggest piece of evidence that points to an “inside” job is the 2-and-a-1/2 page ransom note. No killer writes something like that. Plus it was written on a pad found in the house with a pen/sharpie found in the house.

This is the part that always bothered me. The child's body was found in the basement of the house. Who would write a ransom note, then leave the body in the house? If an outsider did it, they would have removed the body and hidden it somwhere, hoping that the ransom would be paid before the body could be found.

Supposedly, the only people that knew the amount of the
bonus was the board members an John/Patsy Ramsey.
Odd that the ransom note was for the exact amount of the
bonus.

Considering every media outlet who claimed the Ramsey’s murdered JonBenet have been sued and lost/settled out of court with the Ramseys....UPI may want to seek competent legal counsel.

If the grand jury truly indicted the Ramseys...this would have been mentioned years ago...not 2013.

People should realize that the media does not accurately report on these high-profile cases....anyone familiar with the George Zimmerman case is aware of this fact

“The couple have maintained their innocence”

The use of the word “have” indicates present tense and although they are describing what happened in 1999, the article was published yesterday and does not distinguish the quote came from 14 years ago.

It was just an indictment of the author of the article.

I believe this was a case where a Democratic bureaucracy (including the DA) was on a jihad to take down a wealthy family to earn political points.

It was extremely tragic.

It seems UPI is trying to dredge up this case for some reason...why?

Helps with the gun-control jihad in CO perhaps?
