Attitudes about guns are changing, quickly.

Barack Obama and Illinois Governor Patrick Quinn, along with the likes of New York’s Governor Cuomo have awakened a sleeping giant. Attitudes about guns are changing throughout America, and they are changing quickly.

For example, on the national scale, attitudes about guns rights and gun ownership are very positive overall. And Americans who were ambivalent about guns two months ago are embracing gun ownership and the benefits of firearm ownership enthusiastically.

Even the NRA, long-castigated by the gun control advocates as the boogieman in firearm civil rights, has a far more positive appeal to everyday Americans than does the entertainment industry – by nearly a 2:1 margin.

NBC/WSJ poll: NRA more popular than entertainment industry

(NBC) – As Washington prepares for a political battle over the Obama White House’s proposals to curb gun violence after the Newtown, Conn., shootings, a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that the National Rifle Association is more popular than the entertainment industry.

Forty-one percent of adults see the NRA — the nation’s top gun lobby — in a positive light, while 34 percent view it in a negative light.

By comparison, just 24 percent have positive feelings about the entertainment industry, and 39 percent have negative ones.

On the local scale, we’re seeing crowds like we’ve never seen them before at Gun Shows. At the Indy 1500 gun show in Indianapolis last weekend, there were a thousand or more people waiting as long as three hours to enter the show in a line that snaked literally for blocks.

In point of fact, surveys indicate that the NRA is more trusted nationwide than the White House.

Although, admittedly, that isn’t saying much given the personality and ideology of the president and his staff.

I was at a local gun shop this past week end and in talking with some of the customers, 3 of the 4 people I talked with had never owned a gun.

I know this is an antidote and not proof, but it seems that more NEW gun owners are joining the ranks of long time gun owners, than at any time in recent history.

I carry everywhere and where I absolutely cannot {airports, buildings with metal detectors, etc.} I avoid if at all possible.

You have to go to the sheriff's office to renew your license to carry, and it is located at the court house, which is a gun free zone {for most free men, except special people, like police, deputy sheriffs, the mayor's body guards, the council people, celebrity body guards, you know...the important folks}.

They have grossly underestimated. I’ve spoken with numerous north east liberals and they seem to think we’re ‘a little upset’ but will get over it.

This article gives me hope. Maybe there are enough liberty-loving Americans left. The left has perverted virtually every other amendment in the constitution. Public use now means public purpose, i.e. anything the government wants to include taking your private property and giving it to another private owner who MIGHT pay more taxes. Commerce between the states now means any commercial or noncommercial intrastate and private activities that might possibly have an effect on commerce at some point. Freedom from unreasonable search without probable cause and a warrant now means government can record all of your internet activity and strip search you as the price for boarding a plane. Even the right to bear arms has been perverted to mean only the guns the government wants you to have and only after you’re properly licensed. Could there still be enough of us Americans left who are outraged by all of the above?

I compare that to 9/11. That is, the terrorists would not get away with what they did now. We’re on to them.

Same thing here. And the cops know it.

BTW, I guessed it was that video before I clicked on the link. It is a very powerful warning to us and americans MUST see that to understand what some in LE will attempt.

I only buy guns from private parties. Period.

Your spell checker needs an antidote :0) Thanks for the anecdote/anecdotal evidence.

It is past time for those who support guns to make an information campaign in support of gun self defense, not just to Americans, but to England, Australia, Canada, and other places that have gun control.

A way to do this is to produce a fairly low budget television show, but for the Internet, featuring reenactments of real crimes around the world against innocent people, where they had guns to defend themselves, and where they did not.

The overriding theme of the show will be that police will not protect or defend you in time, and that those with guns can defend themselves, and those without guns suffer terribly and die because they are helpless.

For example, the woman in Georgia who recently defended her children and herself is about an ideal an example as it gets. And all it would need is actors, a three story house with an attic for a set, and narration. All the rest is just photography and direction. It could be shot with a cheap, digital video camera.

As part of that same ‘episode’, a flip-side reenactment of a home invasion in England or Australia that resulted in something pretty horrible, with the narrator pointing out all the times during the event when the homeowner could have used a gun to defend themselves.

A particular episode might end up with some sanctimonious liberal spouting ignorance about the importance of gun control, which flies in the face of what the viewer had just watched.

Two events out there that could save us:

Dem overreach on gun control blows-up in their faces (as it always has).

Obamacare train-wrecks even faster than expected, and the outrage reignites the Tea Party.

"...But if you think Ameircan Police will not come for your guns watch this..."
New Orleans is not known for it's staunchly conservative politicians and civil servants. It is probably a safe bet that it is a fair representation of other jurisdictions that are infested with the disease of liberalism.

I'm blessed to live in a conservative area. The Sheriff is on *our* side. For example, the Sheriff came in to his office a Saturday to sign my NFA paperwork at a time when I could only get home on weekends -- at his suggestion!! I am *highly* confident that neither my local SO or the PD would turn on their citizens like those thugs in N.O. did.

Anyone who unfortunately lives in a jurisdiction ruled by liberal mind-sets should either move to a friendlier location, or work to change the political climate -- whichever is more realistic. I know... Easier "said" than "done"...
