PA Background Check System Being Updated (Vanity)

Today I saw the proposal/purchase information for the modernization of PICS, which is the background check computer system run by the Pennsylvania State Police. (PA doesn't use the national system). What I learned was interesting. First, the current system is not connected to any mental health records. The new system will be. Second, nearly $500,000 will be spent on the new system. That is the initial price tag, but given it is government, it will probably be double, if not triple.

Background check systems do not stop criminals from getting weapons. Jails do. The only thing background checks to is invade our privacy, increase the cost of purchasing weapons, waste tax dollars, and make it inconvenient for innocent, law abiding citizens. I am dead set against any background check, particularly when it comes to mental health records.

I’m surprised the BC sys hasn’t gone “down” like it did when this POS holder was asst AG under klinton.

Tightening up their system to keep NY’ers from coming south to purchase guns and ammo?

Heh! Look at what they did today in Denver about our background check system:

“Funding request for gun background checks denied; backlog to remain”
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/funding-request-for-gun-background-checks-denied-backlog-to-remain

And here’s the pull quote:
“Democratic Rep. Claire Levy says she doesn’t think people who want to buy guns deserve special funding.”

I emailed the NRA about this and STRONGLY suggested that they file a lawsuit.
Equal protection
Unconstitutional violation of rights.

Friggin’ democrat dirtbags.

How about a data base on disc or download of all violent felons at local sporting good stores and gun dealers. Pop the buyers name in and if nothing comes up, no problem. All local, no record of names for the feds. Feds responsibility is to supply updated disks or downloads of felons names in a timely fashion. Any mistakes on their part, fire the head of that dept. and cut their budget. They have no need for honest citizens names who purchase guns.
