U.S. shoppers spent cautiously this holiday season, a disappointment for retailers who slashed prices to lure people into stores and now must hope for a post-Christmas burst of spending.
Sales of electronics, clothing, jewelry and home goods in the two months before Christmas increased 0.7 percent compared with last year, according to the MasterCard Advisors SpendingPulse report.
That was below the healthy 3 to 4 percent growth that analysts had expected...

Four more years of this as all the delayed tax increases Obama put in place kick in. I’m sure at some point he’ll offer some $500 rebate to people earning less than $30,000 or something like that to “stimulate” spending. The sad part is that inflation will kick in soon and so everyone who saved will be screwed anyway.
Why on earth would anyone expect “healthy 3 to 4 percent growth” this year, with so many people out of work and prices on the rise?
When there is no money, there is no money.Unlike the government we working stiffs can’t order our employer to pay us more.
So unless your willing to work longer and pay more income taxes your going too have to sacrifice somewhere.
I just hope the parasites are happy because in the end their the ones who are going to make the sacrifice.
If my taxes keep going up I’ll just stop working.
It’s Bam’s economy and the morons that voted for him will get hit the hardest. Unfortunately these @$$ho%es won’t realize they’re getting screwed.

Why on earth would anyone expect a healthy anything, when we send hundreds of billions of dollars to China, never to be seen again?
Either work out the trade balance now, or stop all trade with China and bring back US jobs.
What we are doing now is broken.
Oh oh!
I just said some dirty words....to liberals that is.
Perhaps you are preaching to the wrong choir. Spend some time posting this on the lib sites. They are running things.
Nobody here can do a damn thing about it.
Obama does not want jobs for Americans.
If our side stops selling out America, our side will regain control.
As it is, we have outsourced enough jobs now, we have become a minority party.
America first.
Now.
Happy Dreaming. It ain’t going to happen anytime soon. The House has passed legislation to help bring back jobs. Most people never hear about it because Pinky Reid never brings them to the Senate floor.
Obam is a UN Globalist. They do not want a good economy in the United States. Just the way it is.
Shoppers disappoint retailers???? Not the way my wife shopped.

That is what I was going to say. Clueless for sure! If retailers got ‘any’ business, they should be thankful.
Because the Sun President was reelected, raising the country above the morass of fear that a businessman would be elected president. The press had convinced themselves that those who spend the money they earn would be as enthusiastic as those who spend the money others earn.
Over the years I have always given Savings Bonds, just this year one of my grandsons cashed in and bought a used car. All the toys I could have bought over the years, would have been discarded, broken or garage saled. Now he has a car, and understands what I did for him.
When they reach age 20, I give them nothing.
I noticed that in the days before Christmas people had food items in their carts, not presents. People must have got their presents right after Halloween and through Amazon. From Halloween to Thanksgiving a great flurry then nothing.
I wasn’t going to spend a dime this year because I’m going to have to pull the property taxes out of my ear. But, I did/will. One 20s kiddo will be needing new tires soon so told her to consider that a late Christmas present. The other needed some sweatshirts that, thankfully, Walgreens had for $1.50 (!) each. Christmas dinner was from food already on hand in the freezer and garden so no holiday spending there. There isn’t any money to blow. When the .7% numbers came out, we all hollered at the tv it wouldn’t have been that high without the guns sales. I’m sure that number isn’t taking inflation into consideration and I’m sure it’s been padded just like the unemployment figures.
Yeah, we have four growns and they all get “practical” Christmas presents. Same with my 12 year old grandson (lives with us). This year he got the fees for CYO basketball as his gift. They are all cool with it that way.
Don't even send cards out anymore either, don't want any that I just throw in the trash later.
This is not a BAH humbug attitude, it is reality of what has happened to the old fashioned Christmas. Now it seems it is only geared to how much can you spend, perpetrated by the Dept. Stores and the Media, as well as the Grandparents game of who bought the most expensive present.
I am not playing anymore.
