The Pillbillies are getting desperate living in the Obamanation!

The Police were just at my door. They wanted to know if my security cameras were on. Some asshats just robbed the coin shop located about 10 yards from my front door.

They walked in grabbed the old gentleman that owns the shop and beat him over the head and then robbed him in broad daylight. They got a lot of gold and silver coins and other collectable coins as well.

For folks in a lot of cities this stuff happens all of the time. In our small town it is rare. Or should I say, it was rare.

Then Oxycotin started showing up around here some years back. Doctors started prescribing it for back aches and other pain issues. Then of course people started abusing it, dopers who used lesser pain meds like Vicodin and such.

As the years passed it got worse. A couple years back I was in a local bar to hear a friends band. I was just there early during sound check. (I can't hack crowds and really loud music in small places anymore) My alarm went off on my phone reminding me it was time for one of my pills the doc prescribed. (BP meds) I went to the bar and ordered a club soda and set the pill bottle down on the counter. And before the barman could get me my order three young girls each asked me what I had and what I wanted for it.

I was confused I didn't know what they were talking about. The bartender explained as he pointed to my pills, "They think you have Ox or Percs. Those girls will do anything to get a few." I was taken aback. I asked him why the owner of the place would put up with it. He told me if he banned everyone who used or sold pills in the place the bar would be empty. And he said it was the same in every other bar in the county.

I figured he was just BSing me but as I asked around I found it was true. While I was asking around I heard terms like "Oxrun" or Oxy Express. I come to find out that people would load up a van or SUV and take fake prescriptions down to Florida and get sometimes 180 or more of Oxy and Percs each which they would outlay about 400-600 bucks for and the come back home and sell each pill for 30-100 buks a piece for the Oxy and 5 - 20 bucks each for the Percs.

Then of course the crime started to skyrocket. Even if you were hooked and could manage to get your fix straight from the pharmacist it sill cost an arm and a leg to keep up your habit so the money had to come from somewhere.

Now we have countless B&Es in homes owned by older people. First they are more likely to have drugs second they are an easy target because of their age.

The drugs are so addictive that normal folks who get it prescribed by a Doctor for a legitimate cause get hooked easily. Allegedly our former Chief of Police got hooked on them several of our city workers were busted trading city services like Water and Sewer fees for pills.

We have drugged out zombies walking the streets. I am not kidding they literally wander around zonked out of their mind. My wife went to the store awhile back with my daughter. They told me they were leaving the front door unlocked because they were coming right back with some groceries.

I heard the door open and told them I would be right there to help carry the stuff. When I went to the front there was no one there. As I walked back to the living room I saw movement in my Daughter's room. It was some zonked out pillbilly barely able to stagger about.

I grabbed a ballbat and chased the idiot out. We don't leave the door unlocked for any reason now. Its too dangerous.

And now we have this. A daylight robbery while businesses right across the street are open and the poor old guy who owns the place is beaten over the head.

People used to make fun of me because I kept telling them the Zombie Apocalypse was inevitable. Well no we know its not inevitable. Its here and it ain't going away.

The high is fine, and combined with Ibuprofen it will kill a significant amount of pain, but the constipation can literally kill you after a few days on it.

Heck, more than two Advil in 24 hours will do that to me - I don't know how people deal with the heavier pain dugs.

We have neighbors whose 30+ YO son has a lifetime struggle with addiction, been in and out of rehab so many times. Paramedics called to the house numerous times. In and out of jail. Most recently, he’s been chopping Oxy into powder and snorting it. His parents have come to the conclusion he probably won’t live to see 40 either.

“the only reason I can think of is there must be a hefty monetary kickback from the med makers for Docs to prescribe such poison.”

Nope, no kickbacks.

The problem is liberalism or at least the same mindset. Some docs look at it as a civil duty to fight pain regardless of the harm it does or the lack of evidence it extists. Sounds kind of familiar doesn’t it.

After being injured in a near 20 foot fall a decade ago my doctor at the time prescribed Oxy pills enough for 8 a day for several months. Interestingly he was a sports medicine specialist.

Being scared of addiction because of stories I’d heard and short on money I only had a couple of the prescriptions filled and took only ONE pill per day come evening in order to be able to sleep at night.30 minutes after taking the Oxy I felt a warm flush and the pain, which was bad, vanished;then I wouild wake up 10 hours later feely groggy and slow.

I was asked to sell “extra” pills by local people but would not ,and did not have them to sell even if so inclined since I bought only a fifth of what the doctor would prescribe.I have also been offered money for my urine since it is known I am not a user.

These offers were made by otherwise ordinary local people who I had not thought of as drug abusers.I suspect drug abuse is way more common than thought.

I feel your pain, but this isn't news. Since about 2006 we've seen a sharp uptick of BEs in our rural area. The local gunshop owner keeps me clued in. It's ALWAYS either pill-poppers or meth-heads, and they selectively target the elderly. So far nobody's been hurt, but I look for that to change. Mom lives alone around here, so I upgraded her shootin' iron.

I understand that these drugs can get you hooked easily. I had my own brush with Vicodin a few years back. I contracted pneumonia. I had the most exquisitely painful cough with it and could not work or get any rest. The regular stuff didn't touch the cough so the doctor prescribed a Vicodin syrup. It did the trick-stopped the cough cold, like flicking a switch-but I found that if I discontinued it the cough would come back twice as bad. After two weeks and two bottles of syrup I realized that the pneumonia must have cleared and that I was getting hooked on the med. I went cold turkey and just dealt with the phantom cough and anxiety. I had an unpleasant week and then I was fine. But I can see why people might go in for it. It makes you warm, dreamy and carefree with a mere theraputic dose. I suspect that if you take a lot of it you can "go places". No thanks.

UPDATE: Just heard from the old gentleman's wife. He was struck 5-6 times in the head. His brain is swelling and is being rushed from a local Hospital to a Trauma Center in Columbus.

The local keystone cops have still not secured the crime scene. If the old guy doesn't make it and these idiots have not done their job then likely the perps (if ever caught) will walk on some stupid technicality because our police force is a bunch of brain-dead rambo wanna-bes!

“Even Rush got caught up in the Oxy monster.”

Except that Rush never had a drug problem.

He could afford them. :-P

anybody on them that stops to think about it for a bit realizes they’re still in agony, but they don’t mind. Percocet is like that. It just takes away the emotions associated with pain and replaces them with a mellow calm.

In case you have not seen my idea before:

Last year I lost a dear relative who had paid into Medicare her entire life. When she got cancer the fedgov said that the treatment that would give her a shot at survival was too expensive considering her 75 years.

They put her on hospice and pumped her full of morphine until she died.

Why don’t we have hospice for drug addicts and alcoholics?
They have a terminal disease and most are not interested in treatment.

No, we should not legalize drugs.

When someone is picked up for possession or commits multiple DUIs we give them the choice of jail w/ rehab or drug abuse hospice.
The hospice supplies a bunk, three hot meals, and all the drugs they want. Any drug. For free, just like Grandma got.

The addict can opt to leave at any time if they go to rehab or jail as appropriate. If they stay, they must agree to mandatory birth control (don’t need no crackbabies) and a DNR (do not resuscitate) order in case they OD.

The problem with drug addicts is that they try to recruit more users to fund their habit. They also are responsible for a large percentage of crime, prostitution, etc.

Terrorists, e.g., the Taliban, get their funding from drugs.
Removing the addicts defunds the narcos from Afganistan to our own cities. Crooked pols and cops will lose out.

We could save not only on prisons, but also on medical care, the war on drugs, and the damage wrought by crime.
The libertarian side of me says, “If they want to kill themselves, who are we to stand in their way?”

The conservative side of me says, “I don’t want them in my neighborhood”.

So our society is FORCING Grandma to shoot up morphine while we spend thousands saving the life of a crackhead who OD’s. The crackhead would LOVE to shoot up morphine every day.

Once again, why don’t we allow the addicts to opt for hospice where they can party until they croak?

I could tell stories about country cops these days, but I'll refrain. Let's just say that 9mm works a lot better than 911 if you want to save your skin.

I pray that your neighbor pulls through.

Most unfortunate. Hope you stay safe FRiend. It’s insane out there.

We live in a rural setting. Been here 25 years, and never had so much as a Trick or Treat’er show up here. “H” we’d have to invite trouble here.

We should open a few hospices in major cities or any area that shows a high percentage of drug addicts.

The cartels are gonna hate this idea.

Thanks
That’s what i thought. So VICODIN, PERCOCET, and PERCODAN are all different versions and come in various strengths and combinations. I have some of each. I wonder what the real shelf life is for these, when kept at temperatures ranging from 68 to 78 degrees F.
