Well, for a start, you elect people to public office who understand these issues, people who WANT economic ...opportunities and prosperity for the citizenry.

In the nineteenth century, people understood these things. Today, we are much more sophisticated -- we re-elected Barack Obama in hopes that he wouldn't screw up in his second term the way he did in his first term.

Precisely. The goal was for every individual American to have the opportunity to be the absolute best they could be. The Founding Fathers of this Nation had experienced life under rule, and created a Constitution intent upon freedom from such rule.
