Champion Window Inc. will close a Houston facility, eliminating about 70 positions.
The Houston subsidiary of Dallas-based Atrium Windows and Doors Inc. will close its facility at 12427 Duncan Road in north Houston between Jan. 9 and Jan 23, the company said in a letter this month to the Texas Workforce Commission.
The job cuts will be in the areas of sales, customer service, warranty, delivery and warehouse, said Justin Pfeifer, director of builder sales. The Duncan Road location is Champion's only physical Houston presence.
The upcoming closure is due to the company's decision to exit the direct market and focus on dealer distribution and the remodel and replacement market, Pfeifer said...

That company has been around for a long time. At least 30 years, I think. They mostly make cheap builder’s grade windows though. They have a lot more competition now, and not as many new homes being built.
Not everyone can afford organic, bamboo, sustainable, eco-friendly, esoteric, locally-sourced windows.
I remember seeing their windows after installed. Messy glaze and low end windows.
People are spending big dollars for the replacement windows made of white plastic. The white frames looks out of place here in Houston.
Most replacement windows come in standard white or beige.
Many more high end replacement manufacturers also offer clad widows in white, beige or dark brown.
The replacement window business is a major industry due to the general poor quality builder grade windows that are installed in most new homes.
