The Hostess brand is heading to the auction block, following an announcement that the company would be shutting down. But that may not mean an end to Twinkies. A Mexican company called Bimbo, which is credited as being the largest bread maker in the world, may have plans to buy the brand.
Grupo Bimbo is no stranger to acquiring foreign companies. With other baking goods companies like Mrs. Baird's Bakeries and Sara Lee already under his belt, Daniel Servitje who runs Bimbo, has already shown interest in Hostess in the past. The Bimbo company attempted a deal in 2007 during which time Hostess was also facing bankruptcy, but the deal fell through. Bimbo is also responsible for stocking grocery stores with familiar items like Entenmann's and Thomas' English Muffins.
According to Forbes, Bimbo posted a profit of over $3 billion in sales almost a decade ago and that number has more than doubled since. Bimbo's interest in the Hostess brand has been ongoing, according to Forbes, which reported that the company's interest began even before 2007, based on market analyst research.
"In the early 2000s, analysts widely speculated that Bimbo thought Hostess a key ingredient for North American expansion with delivery routes that penetrated across the country into convenience stores, gas stations and grocery markets," Forbes has reported...

Bimbo makes a junk food delicacy that I adore: Bimbunuelos. They are crispy and sugary and have no nutritional value whatsoever.
Just look around you and see the Brownberry trucks in the Chicago area. They sell Thomas English muffins as well as Brownberry Bread and Arnold’s Thins and those other products mentioned above. Their products are baked right here in the Chicago area, and the route drivers are self employed and can buy or sell their stores as needed. And Im not Mexican, by the way. My family came to this country on the Mayflower in 1620.
It's sent to them from their relatives who work in the USA...
You supply the descriptive adjectives...
Oil, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, tequila, etc. It’s not really a poor country.
Could you just see the following Bimbos, Twinkies, Ho-Hos, Ding Dongs and Snowballs. talk about something really sad about he state of morals in the US. Mexico owns the bakeries of the world, the Chinese will produce the Jaguars and Land Rovers by a knock off company called Chery. what is next Fords will be produced in a city called Green Bay )french for Bay of stinking water)?
Please how surreal is this world to become.
Had our Goodbye to Hostess party here today. With grandkids, we nearly polished off four boxes. They’ll be happy to learn that now we can maybe have a “their back” celebration!
Yes, one of the things Mexico actually does right, is they use real cane sugar. Ever had a Mexican Coke? Delicious. And Mexican Squirt uses real grapefruit juice, too. You can see the pulp on the bottom.

Revenge of the Mediterranean Man
Hes on the march in Europe and North America.
By Michael Knox Beran
Across the ocean in North America, Latino refugees from broken Mediterranean-style economies in Latin America are pushing politicians in the United States to redistribute more of North Americas wealth. In California, the Latino diaspora was instrumental in securing higher taxes on the gringo rich; President Obama himself has called on Americans to cast ballots for revenge against the prosperous.
