No one is arguing whether or not states can or cannot secede

States are NOT seceding. Individuals are.

The States need to secede. For instance, Perry in Texas and the other governors in their states need to communicate with the populace of their states and if agreed upon a need to secede from the union.

Not some group of petitioners that represent themselves and a couple of tens of thousand individuals. That is not a state seceding.

A better step would be to unilaterally assert their 10th Amendment rights, and see what happens.

secession deflects the argument and gives the feds an excuse to invade militarily.
