Obama secession petitions: 34 of 50 states petitioning the president to secede
It's unclear whether these petitions are a nod to dissatisfaction that some conservatives think may soon match Civil War proportion,or not. However, the utter contempt for the Obama administration indicated by this petition drive, which appears to be on its way to all fifty states, is very clear.

Greetings from Virginia.
These petitions at the very least make an explicit statement that, in the aftermath of the most recent election, many of us are finding ourselves in a country that is no longer a nation.
In its bid for power-by-any-means, the Party of Jim Crow has successfully played upon fear, envy and other base emotions selling the bill of goods that dependency and hedonism are to be exalted, while the values of freedom, self-reliance and equality under the law -- upon which the Party of Abraham Lincoln were founded -- are out-dated at best and evil at worst. People who stand for limited government and individual rights are smeared as by definition stupid, ill-informed and/or evil.
We have a smirking, disdainful elite that is increasingly unable to conceal its contempt for the general population for whom it purports to advocate. Much of their energies are spent thwarting popular will if it cannot be manipulated via carefully managed information from the classroom, Movie Theater, T.V. screen and press. They are building a medievalist society in which the vast majority is deliberately kept poor, ignorant and disenfranchised.
And yet they are lionized as champions of the masses.
They consider themselves entitled to have political influence grossly disproportionate to their numbers. Much like the Machiavellian princes of pre-democratic Europe, they regard themselves superior [without having to be bothered to offer proof as to why] and therefore tasked with Divine Right the responsibility to lord over us as paternalistic tyrants -- because we cannot be trusted to see to our own economic needs and personal security. Hence, they are against anything that empowers the citizenry and for anything that fosters dependency.
Rather than being born into this class, one gains exalted status via the political arena wherein the rules depend upon with whom you are connected. They make it clear that there is no legitimate means to garner personal economic success other than in the media, politics or the entertainment industry. They have many convinced that it is not possible to gain wealth while creating jobs in the private sector except through treachery that must be roundly punished. If people lose jobs as a result, this is blamed upon capitalist greed, not their policies.
And there is no such thing, of course, as greed for the ability to use the coercive power of government to hold sway over others.
It is not too hard to predict the results of the medieval barbers currently in charge prescribing more blood-letting as a cure for economic anemia. Most people don't care about politics, but they do care if they can provide for their most basic of needs as wages remain flat and the cost of living soars. There simply are not enough of “the rich” to provide for the rest of us and most still have enough pride and integrity to want to pay their own way.
What will come of this, it is hard to say. But those of us who truly love America are not going to stand idly by and watch our country lain waste by those who demonstrably fear and loathe the Land of the Free.

The states haven’t petitions but groups within the states. I would think those petitioners need to petition the governor of their states and then the state governments would petition the Feds to secede.
Does anyone here know the procedure?
States don’t need permission from the feds to secede.
If our votes don’t count, why would signatures?

Questions for all to ask yourselves:
1. In 2016, maybe 2014, with government dependency approaching 60% of the population or greater, the chances of restoring the country closer, even marginally, to its constitutional, limited government, individual liberty roots by popular vote will approach or equal nil. What then, sirs?
2. If, as some really smart financial people think, we suffer an economic collapse, would you support restoring the country ‘as-is’ or in a different structure?
3. Do you really feel in your heart that those who voted for Obama and support what he has done and will do over the next four years deserve to be considered your ‘countrymen’?
My answers:
1.When you boil away all the superfluous claptrap, the 48 or 49% who wanted anybody but the socialist Obama have but two choices: (1) Begin exploring every option possible to separate ourselves from him AND the people who want what he wants and put him back in office or (2) accept the boot on your neck for the rest of your lives and the lives of all those who will come after you. Socialism is not voluntary.
I suspect the American colonists faced weighing the same grave decision in the 1770s.

3. They are not my countrymen. They are dead to me. In fact I cast off a friend two weeks ago who defended/excused Obama’s leaving four Americans to die while watching it in real time.

No one is arguing whether or not states can or cannot secede
States are NOT seceding. Individuals are.
The States need to secede. For instance, Perry in Texas and the other governors in their states need to communicate with the populace of their states and if agreed upon a need to secede from the union.
Not some group of petitioners that represent themselves and a couple of tens of thousand individuals. That is not a state seceding.

A better step would be to unilaterally assert their 10th Amendment rights, and see what happens.
secession deflects the argument and gives the feds an excuse to invade militarily.

This would be a perfect opportunity to restore the union to the spirit of Federalism, but limited to enumerated Constitutional powers.
Assuming secession was not met with military force, the state would be faced with a $250k per person bill for their prorata share of the national debt, ensuring any newly independent states destitution.
secession is not the answer, but Obama, if true to his Anti-American reflexes should just say “OK, go ahead” and his destruction of the USA would be complete.
The procedure is simple:
1. The state legislature passes an Act of Secession.
2. The state Governor signs the Act of Secession.
3. The Federal government in notified that the state has passed an Act of Secession and signed it into law.
4. The Federal government invades the state and slaughters anyone who opposes them.
I’m seeing the 10th Amendment movement starting to explode and more Governors dusting off their Bill of Rights.
I think most of the secession talk is a product of people’s frustration and wanting to do SOMETHING without really knowing what.

I think you are right. I don’t support secession - not yet, anyway.
The procedure is simple:
1. The state legislature passes an Act of Secession.
2. The state Governor signs the Act of Secession.
3. The Federal government in notified that the state has passed an Act of Secession and signed it into law.
4. The sissy in our White House does a political calculation and decides to let the conservative “troublemakers” go so that he has a smaller but more liberal and unified country to rule over, rather than face the uncertainties of war.
5. Additional conservative states join in secession, one by one.
It’s possible. I hope it’s avoidable while maintaining freedom, but it a possible future in which at least part of our country remains free.
There is no procedure, persay.
I wish that people would stop uttering this misleading statement. Not a single state legislature has produced a petition for secession, but lots of private citizens have.
Until one or more state legislatures get behind this, it's simply a popular protest.
In the preface to her history, she said that by 1776, the Revolution was really a done-deal in the minds of the Colonists.
They had done the mental legwork necessary, and had gone through numerous petitions to George III and his ministers, all for naught.
The Declaration was written for the reasons stated in the beginning of it: We have certain beliefs as axioms, here they are, and, we want to be independent because the Crown has done this and this to us. Etc.
What needs to happen now is for the mental legwork to be conducted, on the internet and privately ('Committees of Correspondence' should be established in the States as they were 240 years ago or so.)
Organization and funding will take time.
But when the time comes, a second Declaration should be Drafted, and, the States so inclined, should for the sake of their number and unity of purpose, declare themselves independent United States of America, and make it clear by the parallel language to the original document, that they are the REAL progeny and heirs of the Founding Fathers.
Then, some time will go by, and there will be the equivalent of the Powder Scare and other attempts to confiscate arms from us, and then, something like Lexington and Concorde will occur.
Then it will be war, on someone's terms, theirs or ours.
Remember: The record of the first American Revolution and the War is too well kept and too detailed to ignore.
We have it as a roadmap for our future independence.
It is our duty to abolish the Government and re-institute a sound Constitutional government if ours is rotten.
The Founding Fathers said exactly this, for precisely this occasion.

Petition new Representatives and Senators from the States and try again.
Repeat until we get a batch of Congresscritters that have not only READ the Constitution, but think that following it is a good idea...
Invade Texas militarily? Hows that working for our Military in Afghanistan? You do know that Texas is bigger than Afghanistan... Right? 250k sq/miles vs 268k sq/miles(according to a quick google search).
I'm betting Texas is better armed too.
