.... Science Magazine reports that Reps. Lamar Smith, Jim Sensenbrenner and Dana Rohrabachrer are three House Republicans who have so far announced that they are vying for the top spot on the committee, which focuses on science, space and technology.
....
Rohrabacher, R-Calif., wrote in a statement: I intend to be a chairman who exemplifies the Republican philosophy that science, technology and innovation offer a pathway to a better, more prosperous future, and solve problems that bureaucracy and rampant government spending cannot.
Rohrabacher said in a 2007 congressional hearing that he was skeptical of a report that found evidence of global warming to be unequivocal, in particular testimony regarding a period 55 million years ago when similar patterns of dramatic climate change occurred.....
Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., has alternately dismissed scientific fascism and called climate change research part of an international conspiracy.......
In 2009, Smith, R-Texas, attacked ABC, CBS and NBC for their coverage of global warming, which he said was largely slanted in favor of global warming alarmists.
The networks have shown a steady pattern of bias on climate change, Smith wrote in a statement at the time. During a six-month period, four out of five network news reports failed to acknowledge any dissenting opinions about global warming, according to a Business and Media Institute study. ....

One of the tragedies of our "free society" is that there isn't a way to ban people who don't believe in Evolution from voting or holding office or reproducing.
Hey Jil!
If you’d received a passing grade in 8th grade Science, you’d recognize that evolutionary theory requires more faith than most religions.
I bet these quotes were talking about man-made global warming. Remember, Salon, your buddies on the LEFT needed to change the phrase from Global Warming to Climate Change when the King of Global Warming, Al Gore, had SNOW pouring on his head during his speeches!!
Climate Change DOES exist and it has been CONSERVATIVES that have provided the evidence for the millions of years of patterning despite being ridiculed over the Hockey-Stick graph.
Salon ??
The story talks about their views on climate change. So why all the young earth chatter?
This obsession with Darwin and the young Earth betray a distinct lack of faith.
God can only exist within the narrow confines of your specific interpretation of Genesis and if the evidence of nature contradicts that it threatens your weak faith.
I’d be curious to know how many of we “Creationists” share this view:
The Earth is not “young” (aka 6,000 years)
Microevolution (adaptation within a species) does occur.
Macroevolution does not.
(one species transitioning to another, under the traditional definition of species, not the “modern” convenient version)
Sorry, I don’t get the “joke”. Statements mentioned by the three in the article seem reasonable to me.

“Settled science” like the Earth’s core being millions of degrees as Algore once told us?
