Gun sales are headed for a boom following President Barack Obamas reelection.
In October, the number offirearms background checks performed on potential gun buyers across the U.S. jumped 18.4%, according to data released by the FBI. The number of applications for gun ownership is considered a leading indicator for future gun sales.
Experts believe the spike is linked to jitters that a Democratic administration might try to tighten gun control laws.
Gun sales also rose in 2008 after Obama was first elected. The FBI conducted 12.7 million background checks that year, compared to 11.2 million the year before, a 13.4% increase.
"Sales are up," John Kielbasa, owner of Fernwood Firearms in Hankins, N.Y. told CNN. I had a guy waiting here first thing in the morning (Wednesday). He came in, bought two AK-47s."(continued)

What Good Can a Handgun Do Against An Army?

Local gun show was pretty crowded today. However, several empty exhibitor booths, too. I can’t explain that. Personally, I went to Academy Wednesday at lunch and spent $1200 on.....fishing supplies I’ve had my eyes on. Figure they will either not be available or the price will go through the roof soon. I took one of my new fishing rods to the indoor fly fishing range today; it casts very nice.
You do realize with all legal ownership of guns they know who has the guns.
You mean the ones I sold, or the ones that fell out of my deep water fishing boat this past summer?
not if you buy from an individual they don't...
When did we start having to register rifles and shotguns? And if you buy a pistol privately they have no idea you own it.
Didn’t think of that. I been meaning to get a license for years. My brother in law has many guns and is always buying new ones.
I do admit I know nothing about gun purchasing. I was just thinking of gun permits only.
Sorry. Commented on something I didn’t have little knowledge on , but no knowledge on.
Was just thinking of permit registrations .
“You do realize with all legal ownership of guns they know who has the guns.”
They do? Good. I won’t have to go find them.
look in the paper or at gun shows for individual sellers and there is NO paper trail...
“Was just thinking of permit registrations .”
Only in backwards-assed liberal States are there permits to buy a gun. So much for liberals being “progressive”. We freedom loving States don’t have that problem.
No, I was just asking if there were some new rules.
My brother in laws in a blue state.
Don’t know where he gets all if his guns from. None of my business .
Not as bad as NYC but close enough.
Have relatives all over country so that’s one way to get them I’m guessing.
Right. I do remember my brother in law buying many guns at shows. Some nice old ones.
Went in to my local gunshop today to pick up a Mosin and it was wall to wall customers. I even noticed they had some extra people working the counter I had never seen before.
Spoke to one the sales guys who said they are selling out of 5.56 AP as soon as it comes in.
Folks is gearin up.
I will be purchasing another 2nd amendment device this weekend.
bump!!
Not sure. Trying to decide on a gun but am all over the map on models.
From my brother in law I know I have 60 days to buy one after getting permit. Want to decide before getting permit. There a very tough laws here for transporting them also .
Are permits needed in all states?
I use Hi-Point since I’m as poor as a church mouse. Many people here can tell you about other brands.
Hmmmm, I doubt that. I have guns given from Christmas presents as a kid. Semi-auto rifles to boot. I don’t think they have those records.
FYI.....get a Cabela’s credit card and there are times when you can buy a gun for 0% financing for 12 mos.
They usually have one such period near Black Friday......looks like I will be making use of it. Again.

Probably just east of PA. Not sure though.
Gonna try humor again.
If I got a gun in my left pocket and several packets of salt in my right pocket and I’m driving in NYC and worried about being pulled over, which pocket should I empty first?

NRA-ILA is the legal branch of the NRA. It is the defacto source for info on gun laws. Spend a few minutes looking up your state or ones you are traveling or moving to.
“Only in backwards-assed liberal States are there permits to buy a guns”
What about when you buy online?...They just shipped to to a local FFR transfer dealer.....
It isn’t a permit like some dum-assed Illinois FOID card or New Jersey’s gotta ask the cops first permission slip.
The NRA and Charlton Heston were directly responsible for that nasty 1968 Gun Control Act (GCA) that mandated FFL transfers. However, we don’t have restrictions beyond the NICS check, which takes about 15 minutes most days.
Correction FFR = FFL
