He came out of nowhere but you still voted for him because you wanted change. Between you and me, at first you could hardly spell his full name. Somehow he managed to win the elections and become President. He did appeal to the masses. He talked a lot even without saying anything meaningful. He had made lots of promises, but didnt deliver any of them.
When he became president, instead of doing anything to improve the situation of the people, he did everything to improve his own position so that he could stay in power. He was supposed to stand for the little guy, but the big corporations he preached against were the ones he benefited instead. Kids would chant his name in schools like some mantra. Supporters would say his name again and again like brain dead zombies. No one understood what he was really all about, he never said it in the first place, but charisma, millions in campaign marketing would do the trick.

"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
Preppers PING!!
It’s an old story, often repeated. And although we don’t know the ending, the middle chapters are all too familiar.
I have always said that I expect something much like the collapse of Argentina ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yerKMQc7-w&feature=grec_index )but on a global scale.
Recent events show (Flash Mobs, OWS, etc) we have a large entitlement minded population that is violent prone and armed not as well as we are granted. But Bama’s re-election has removed all barriers and I think that during a collapse you will see many businesses wiped out by flash mob looting, and once started it will quickly spread to rape, robbery and murder for murder sake. You will see what I call pocket pogroms and if you aint Amish you better not be around when they come.
Many of these yutes will think no more about killing you than most people think about stepping on a roach. That will be the test of many. Most preppers I know are Christian people and they will hesitate to do what they might have to do to stop the yutes. On the other hand the yutes wont think twice nor lose a minute of sleep, in fact they will smile and laugh about it.
I cant help, but think of this quote which is one of my favorites:
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Siege of AR-558 (#7.8) (1998)
Quark: Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. Theyre a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You dont believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes.
Clearly theres a storm coming, as great as a hurricane and like you do when a hurricane comes your way you either prepare to weather it or you become a victim of it.
For those who are just starting or are old hands at prepping you may find my Preparedness Manual helpful. You can download it at:
http://tomeaker.com/kart/Preparedness1j.pdf
NOTE! THIS IS A FREE DOWNLOAD. I DO NOT MAKE ONE CENT OFF MY PREPAREDNESS MANUAL!
For those of you who havent started already its time to prepare almost past time maybe. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes, gas propane, kerosene, lamp oil, water filters, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.
As the LDS say When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.
Or as the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3
There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.
Underestimation can be fatal.
If folks want a peek into our future...read up on this guy. I know....there are still those in the "it couldn't happen here" camp.
Mr. b isn’t particularly onboard with prepping and would make lame jokes about my feelings on where the nation was headed. Last night, he came and stood there looking at me for the longest and finally said more and more of what I’ve been saying is coming true. Baby steps, baby steps.
The neighbor was cleaning out his shed today and asked if I wanted anything because it was going to the trash. I tried to explain why he might reconsider the “useful” items. He sort of agreed but who knows what he’s throwing out. I did come home with a lawn mower (electric but hey) and some flower pots. Not really into container gardening but I might need to garden inside one day.
Show Mr b this (link, so I don’t use-up so much bandwidth), which I did a step at a time:

Oh, I do what I can.
Yes, I’ve enjoyed seeing yours come together. One day you’ll have to do it in timelapse.
I have those 30-40 time-lapse pics on my home machine; just haven’t uploaded all to PB.
I don’t know how to make it into a slideshow.
I need to poke around PB; it’s new to me and I don’t know much about it. Perhaps it has slideshow option.
