Listening to Boortz, who is railing against conservatives.
Oh, if only the Republican Party had nominated a moderate! Then, they might have won!!
Oh, wait, two elections in a row, a nice, huggy, lovey, let's all just get along moderate has been nominated and summarily defeated.
Gerald Ford, G.H.W. Bush (92), Bob Dole, John McCain, Mitt Romney. Losers all. And who's next? Jeb Bush? Chris Christie? Or some other worthless moderate retread?
Lets look at the last three elections.
In 2008, the Republicans ran a RINO who would not press any big issues. The only traction he got was from his VP candidate. They lost solidly.
In 2010, the Republicans ran as solid conservatives and won one of the biggest victories the party has ever had. They gained over 700 seats nationwide. So what did they do next?
In 2012, they went back to the inoffensive RINO Etch A Sketch with no fixed principles and they got trounced every bit as badly as in 2008.
So whose fault is it? Why, conservatives, obviously.
The Republican Party has a virtually infinite capacity for learning the wrong lesson. it is time to put this pathetic excuse for a party out of its misery.
Probably Fatso.
Mr. Boortz, I would tell you to go Hell, but since we are already there, it doesnt even matter.
Being conservative isn’t enough, you have to be politically savvy as well, and that means knowing how to sugar coat the message in a way that won’t offend people, it’s walking a tight rope to be sure, but it can be done....but there are precious few politicians that are capable of doing it.
Party over principle right here on good old FR needs to be replaced by full beast mode conservatism.
Conservatism is our last best hope.
Moderates don’t inspire. Conservatives do. The left shifts right in the general elections and pretends to be pro-american fiscal conservatives, and our moderates can’t win because there is no daylight between the options. It proves to be true every time.
Here in Florida, Nelson somehow became a man of the people and no one hung his leftist DC record around his neck. Of course, the state bought Obama’s liberal record for four more years, so maybe it didn’t make a difference. What a collapse from two years ago.
And frankly, it’s going to take this country hitting rock bottom before they’ll be ready to listen to the conservative message....and with a media that would be the envy of Josef Goebbels, people won’t even know it’s hit rock bottom until it’s too late.
Block Christie and all like him.
I think Rubio may be a good choice for 2016, but I confess I do not know a huge lot about him.
He’s so right that I knew not to even tune in to him this morning.
We get soft “go-along to get along” candidates (McCain/Romney etc)...while libs push hard and get in everyone’s faces (+ lie, cheat and media backing) and we get Mr Rogers.
Boortz has money-—he can leave. The rest of us will sit here and watch for our next presidential “hero” to float to the top like a noodle.
Brit Hume was already starting at 8 o’clock last night claiming that Romney had been too restricted by us filthy socons.
The “moderates” are happily pointing to a couple of tea party losses so they can declare that they were right. (Never mind the fact that they gleefully kept them wounded and likely voted democrat to prove their point) In reality the tea party took new seats last night and held a great many more seats.
Reading my Facebook and Twitter feeds this morning, it most people think gay marriage, legal pot, and free abortion and birth control were the most pressing issues for the federal govenment.
Maybe the best course of action for the next 4 years is to channel my adolescence, find a dealer, and smoke pot everyday so it goes by quickly in a blur.
Lindsey Graham/Olympia Snowe 2016!!
Why reach across the aisle when you can just take up residence there? Keep sending your money into the GOP. Next time for sure!
As if there will be enough pro-conservative votes to, actually, counter whatever the left does, between now and four years from now! You are living an “optimistic fantasy”! The GOP is dead, and U.S. conservatism is dying! It’s over for everything non-leftist, until and unless there’s a total collapse of “everything leftist”, in the U.S. and worldwide! Prove me wrong, please!
Moderates walk on both sides of the yellow line; they stand for nothing! They want to hug the enemy on the other side of the aisle and engage in bi-partisanship with the weasels.
I hate the Republicrat Party. It should no longer exist. I am a right-wing conservative and there’s no place in the party of accommodation.
Politically savvy PLUS with a spine of steel and constitutional principles which do not bend with the wind.
While I wish that Akin and Mourdock had been more politically sensible, I shed no tears that Richard Lugar was defeated. And I’m glad that Olympia Snowe is gone. And I did nothing at all to help Scott Brown yesterday. I left his office blank on my ballot.
Brown made the proud claim that he was the second most bipartisan senator (Snowe being the first). That made him literally the republican senator second most likely to vote with the democrats. Well what was the point in voting for him? Or anyone like him? Because he might throw me a bone once in a while on some minor issue that’ll get defeated on the floor? Try fooling someone else.
ideology isn’t as important as backbone. Heckuva a campaign, but they never defended/countered “Bush policies caused the meltdown” or “Let detroit go bankrupt” which were the lies that propped up O’s ebtire campaign. At some point in time you have to make an unpopular argument.
You nailed it; none of which except possibly GW did the voters choose.
But we have to die trying.
