Ok--I went to the West Chester Rally last night. I had been wanting to go to one of the rallies for months now. I ALMOST went to the Lebanon Rally a few weeks ago--I used to live in Lebanon and still have a storage garage VERY close to the Golden Lamb-but it did not work out. Same with the Kettering Rally on Tuesday--had to work. and so on.
But when I heard that there was going to be a rally in W.C., about 12 miles from my house or less...on a Friday night--I decided i WAS going. So I got my tickets and went--with my sister.
I guess I picked the RIGHT Rally!! Of ALL four political rallies I have been to--one in 2000, for W--two more in 04 for W and this one--THIS was most definitely the BEST one --by far!! Everyone seemed so energized!! SO many people there!!
But I wonder...I know that in 2008--Sarah drew large crowds for rallies she hosted--but How about Mccain?? I never made to one then--though I tried to go to one with Sarah.
So--to those who where"there--or know someone who was and such--Were Mccains rallies ANYTHING like the ones this year--including Last night in WC?? And did they have the 'energy" of the one last night??
Or were they more like a "wake"" especially by this time in 2008??
Actually that’s a great question!
Well, McCain had little to no crowds. It was Sarah packing them in. (but I am curious about the answer to this too)
A very insightful question...but it should be broken down to those rallies that included Palin. Now we have Ryan as the conservative half of the ticket and conservatives are sucked in to supporting a RINO once again. This time the lessor of two evils is slightly more pronounced.

I think we need to look at Obama’s rally size too. Because that may make Mitt’s rally size more meaningful.
I think Obama is not getting the publicity for large rallies because his have shrunk to fairly small size compared to four years ago. I think Brian Williams commented that Obama’s campaign didn’t look the same as four years ago. He was referring to the lack of energy and smaller crowds.
Romney’s rallies are looking more energetic and are consistently bigger than Obama’s especially this week.
Yeah, I went to a McCain Palin rally in Albuquerque and based on the reaction when McCain was introduced, it was clear we were all there to see Sarah. When McCain came out, sure there was a lot of applauding and yelling, but when they introduced Sarah the place exploded! You couldn’t hear yourself think it was so loud!
Obama Attracting Smaller Crowds than McCain in 08

Campaigning in Mentor, Ohio today, President Obama drew a crowd of 4,000. RNC research director Joe Pounder notes that, four years ago, John McCain drew a bigger ground to the same venue.
Yep McCain had to start making joint appearances with Palin to get a decent crowd. A bit like but not as bad as having to appear with Katy Perry to get a crowd.
Sarah Palin sold out the Salem Va stadium. We still lost Va to Obama.
Well that doesn’t bode well for Obama. Thanks for the link too.
; )
the crowds were for Palin not McCain.
George McGovern had massive crowds in 1972. Ralph Nader packed huge arena’s in 2000. Ron Paul can turn out incredibly large crowds in college towns. It’s a big plus if Romney can attract large numbers, unfortunately you can’t base too much on that. Palin DID attract large crowds to campaign events in 2008 and it didn’t help us win.
came across a blog, (yeah I know, valid? who knows) but interesting.
Short version . . . Size does not matter, (yeah we have heard that before) rather more importantly is where they go

he writes . . .
John Kerry lost a close race to George W. Bush in 2004, but still drew large crowds at the end. In fact, it seems the only candidate in recent memory not to draw large crowds to rallies at the end of his campaign was John McCain in 2008. As the New York Times reported on Oct. 25, 2008:
The one Romney had the other night down around Cincinnati they said he had 30,000.
I’m not even sure about Sarah Palin. There were rumors of that one 60K but that was one guy’s high guess. I don’t think they got more than 15K.
Seem to recall Palin getting between 60,000 and 75,000 at the Villages in Florida. Other places varying roughly from 25,000 to 50,000 or so. Pretty massive for a Republican. And apparently caused a lot of embarrassment towards McCain, whose solo appearances’ attendence were comparatively paltry.
