Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) joined Al Gore this week in blaming Denver's altitude for President Obama's poor performance in the first presidential debate.
"I personally really do believe that the altitude may have had something to do with it," Kerry told the Sante Fe New Mexican.
Gore previously blamed the high altitude for Obama's showing, a claim mocked widely by Republicans and comedians.
Kerry also attributed Obama's "bad night" to indecision on his strategy for his first match-up with GOP nominee Mitt Romney.
"I think he wasn't settled in his own mind completely on his own strategy," Kerry said. "And I think that held him back. I was surprised, obviously."
Kerry, who played Romney in mock debates against the president, seemed to imply that Obama might have been considering other last-minute approaches to the first debate, since Obama had been on his game the night before.
"I thought we had a terrific night the night before when we went through it all, and everybody was a little surprised, and he was surprised," Kerry said. "But look at what he did. He came back and he won both [subsequent debates] convincingly and he won the last one more convincingly than Romney won [the first] one." Kerry was in New Mexico this week to help Rep. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) campaign for the Senate. He said keeping control of the Senate in Democratic hands is critical to preventing the Tea Party from pushing its agenda through Congress.
"The Tea Party is setting the agenda of the United States Congress through [Sen.] Jim DeMint in the Senate and the fear they put into the hearts of their Republican colleagues," he said. "And they block everything. They blocked the farm bill, they blocked the highway bill, they blocked the infrastructure bill, they blocked the veterans' jobs bill recently."
Um...How do they explain his only slightly less pathetic performance in the next two debates? I’m pretty sure Boca isn’t on a mountain.
So Kerry’s saying that Obama is more of a low-lands type of guy?
Hey John ? Al ? forgot that the color red/orange of Mars had something to do with it....
High altitude? He’s always had his head way too far up his arse.
0bama might have been "HIGH", but altitude had nothing to do with it.
Since they both have their heads up there asses all the time I don’t know how much either of them could tell about altitude
Seems Kerry is saying obama becomes unbalanced by forces beyond his control.
5,280 feet above sea level is NOT “high altitude”...11,000 feet above sea level is “high altitude”
I’ve spent many days and nights at 6,000 feet in the Smokey Mountains and have been able to speak and be coherent and have energy...*LOL*
Besides, I thought their excuse would be some kind of video..........*snicker*
Besides, I thought their excuse would be some kind of video..........*snicker*
(sigh).....once again....
NOBODY PUT A GUN TO YOUR HEAD AND FORCED YOU GUYS TO AGREE TO DENVER!!!
He did look a little “not engaged” during the first debate. Perhaps a different kind of high than elevation above sea level .... if you know what I mean.
Yes, but 10,000 to 11,000 feet is where light-headedness and headaches can begin to occur because of the thinner air and less atmosperic pressure...
You know that some mountaineers have climbed Everest (29,092 feet) without oxygen...That’s normal, but has been done....
....that’s NOT normal...............
But the Democratic National Convention in the Mile High City was such a success in 2008! How can this be?
Well there was something “high” goin’ on but I seriously doubt it had anything to do with altitude.
They should blame it on Man Made Global Warming, like they blame everything else that isn’t socialist.
Preparing for the debates, Pres Obama used Sen John Kerry and Gov. Romney used Sen. Portman. It appears that Sen Kerry did too good of a job. With his snarky put downs the President sounded like he was channeling Sen Kerry, and Sen. Kerry is not a likeable personality.
Altitude had less to do with it and Attitude had more to do with the performance.
The Bloom is off the Rose.
