I also would take issue with your term, "mostly good people". Even the church is devoid of wisdom today. A majority of Jews vote Dem along with a majority of Catholics. If you want to, throw in all the other religions with collars and robes. The churches preach error and tickle ears every Sunday. Many churches preach money and wealth and choose not to offend anyone with Scripture. The Word, by it's nature is confrontational to a fallen race. Most churches today won't even preach Scripture, but preach some sort of "moral story" sermon.
The problem with America isn't Pakistan, or China, or Thailand, it's America. Pointing out lost people doesn't save us. What God is asking us is "What have you done to change the laws or culture?"
If we allow babies to be killed each and every day for 40 years and continue to vote for people that won't stop it, then what will we say to God when the fire falls on the US? Why me? I don't think so.
For the same reason he judged Israel back in 600 BC, although there were other, more evil, countries around at the time. They broke covenant just as we have.
Unfortunately, our God is not welcome in those nations and, they will face judgment..Also, any nation which tries to destroy Israel will not stand. American was founded on Judeo-Christian principles but we didn't stick with those principles and many of our Christians began to “blend” with the secularists for material and political reasons and now, we have political leaders nurturing a moral cesspool. God corrects those he loves for good reason and he will continue to guide those in EVERY nation who believe in him. Our lives, under the best of circumstances are but a breath of time in this world. We can live according to the law of the Ten Commandments and love our God and our neighbor as ourselves or we can enter into the evil all around. We make the call. I know one thing..Christians around me are mourning the current situation and are calling out to God to give wisdom and help to us during these awful times in our world. I, personally, pray EVERY day for every Christians in any part of the world, that God would bring miracles of health, joy, peace, wisdom and courage on a daily basis. And, I pray that our leaders will come to know him and will begin to live and govern by His law which is the only way to peace in this world. Another thing, the kind of idolatry which comes from that box we call a TV will not stand. There is but one God and He is the Creator of the world.
