20,000 DEAD; NOW ASSAD REGIME PRIME MINISTER DEFECTS TO JORDAN, AS DO 3 CABINET MEMBERS

I’m finishing writing my new novel, The Damascus Countdown, this week, but set aside fiction for a moment — the painful truth is that Syria is imploding. The bloodthirsty regime of Bashar al-Assad is slaughtering its own people, and steadily losing control of the country. The latest reports indicate that more than 20,000 Syrians have been murdered. Top Syrian officials are defecting. The rebels are steadily winning control of more and more of the country. Iran is sending forces to fight on behalf of the Assad regime against the rebels. Now Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly sending naval warships and Russian marines to Syria as a show of support for Assad, though it’s not clear how far the Kremlin is willing to go to defend the dictator of Damascus. But the rebels are no friends of freedom. Should they topple the Assad regime and seize control, we could see a repeat of the Egyptian revolution last year where Radical Islamic jihadists end up gaining control of the country.

Looming over the entire catastrophe are Bible prophecies that Damascus will be judged and utterly destroyed in the last days. Please be praying for the Syrian people to renounce Islam and give their lives to Jesus Christ before it’s too late. Please pray for the persecuted Christians in Syrian that the Lord will give them courage and boldness to preach the Gospel, teach the Word of God, and care for those who are wounded, scared and desperate.

Reuters is reporting that "Syrian state television said Hijab had been fired, but an official source in the Jordanian capital Amman said he had been dismissed only after he fled across the border with his family."

Either way, please keep the Syrian Christians in your prayers. And pray for the conversion of the Muslim population before it is too late.

As for me, all I can think is "Jesus is coming back VERY VERY SOON".

It looks pretty clear that Syria’s days are numbered. Looking at what may fill the void, I’m not sure this is a good thing.

Sounds like some of Assad’s alliances with the Sunni Arab elites are coming apart. And yet Aleppo, which is majority Sunni Arab, isn’t exactly teeming with volunteers for the Sunni Arab rebels trying to get people to fight for their cause. Back in the 80’s, Assad’s father used the Alawite-dominated Republican Guard to crush the rebels in Hama. I suspect we are about the see a re-run of that scenario in Aleppo. The rebels are said to be gathering almost 10,000 men in Aleppo. If Assad eliminates this rebel force, I suspect the rebellion is finished in all but name.

I witnessed in Iraq what’s going to happen in Syria.

Nothing good will come of this. [They] think it’s going to be better under a new government. Tell that to Egypt and Lybia, two countries that we have not yet seen transform those areas into a biting Sharia law ridden state of mass murder and monstrous reform towards a damning Islamic rule.

Iraq is no different that when Saddam held it, only that it is now ruled by a majority Shia with the heavy hand of Iran moving it around like a toy boat in the bathtub.

Islam and the threat it poses is beyond the rising point of when we should have taken action. Daily reports flood the news wires so much that the US MSM just ignores them because they don’t have the sense of a mud pie to analyze the information into a comprehensive and marketable product.

It’s not that we need to be cheering for Assad to be tried and hanged, we need to concern ourselves with the aftermath. Assad dug his own grave long ago, much like Saddam did. A stone thrown in a lake has rippling effects that we have not yet experienced, but we will.

Those that die, will see the coming of Christ in their own lifetime. Those Christians in that area, if they were smart should take heed on what occurred in Lebanon in 1975! GET OUT NOW!

And the Chemical Weapons?
The WMD’s we went to war with Iraq about?
(among other things)

What happens when the “Rebels” get those?

I’m not fan of Assad, but these clowns probably aren’t much better. I think the most likely outcome is that Syria will be crippled as a effective state for at least the next 4-5 years. That might be a good thing...or not. Assad may be evil, but he is also rational.

Kinda reminds me of the Shaw of Iran and, heck, to a much lesser degree even the previous governments of Egypt and Lybia.

The best thing that can possibly happen right now is an uprising in Iran. That just might lead to uprisings against the Mullahs by students and others who are seeking freedom.

At the worse, it slows down Iran.

It would help if they had a reporter who was not a certifiable idiot, as whomever wrote this tripe is.

It falls into incoherent babbling in the first paragraph, and it is too obnoxious to follow in hopes it might recover.

No, I mean hundreds of thousands in the streets doing exactly what they did in 2009 when Obama said it was an internal matter.

They should do the same now and then Obama gets put on the spot.

You should not expect someone else to spill his blood just to embarrass Obama.

Isn’t Obama a US problem? The people in Iran did not vote for him.

I don’t expect them to spill their blood for Obama. I expect them to spill their blood for their own freedom.

My point is, that if you are going to do something like that, now would probably be a good time.

It really does suck when human life is treated like pieces on a chess board, but unfortunately that is how the game is played.

They tried it in 2009 and Obama sold them out. Would he sell them out again, especially in an election year?
