We don’t call him “Larry Sabotage” around here for nothing.

Gaaah....he annoys me to no end.

Note to Larry Sabo....

You may think your the brightest person on Earth, but you have been wrong in your advice more than you have been right.

Who is Larry Sabato? I don’t watch Fox News, is he some talking blow-hole?

Romney might ought to listen to what Fox News is saying, however. If it weren’t for Fox, he would not be the repug nominee.

I’m sick to death of people equating vanilla with bland, generic, or unexceptional. Vanilla is tasty, damnit! Just because it works well as a base and jumping off point for more complex flavors doesn’t mean it’s not a flavor itself. So far as ice cream is concerned, chocolate is nearly as much a jumping off point as is vanilla. You don’t often see people eating plain chocolate, is what I’m saying, or at least much more often than plain vanilla.

Sabotage has no interest in anyone remotely conservative winning. If anything, do the complete opposite. This guy makes a living feeding the press what the left wants him to say. Romney damned well better pick a rock-ribbed conservative for the ticket, unless he wants an already tenuous coalition to completely fly apart. Why oh why did we have to suit up a bunch of not-ready-for-primetime hacks, retreads and never-was’s in yet another election cycle?? Honestly, they all sucked, and we know it.

I honestly don’t know who the odious Romney could pick, because we have been there and done that (when McCain picked Palin, who was the only one people voted for).

A good VP candidate is not enough to pull a lousy presidential candidate across the threshold, and Romney is about as lousy as you can get. He was picked by the RNC to appeal to liberals, but liberals have their own Dem candidate to vote for, so why should they vote for Romney?

The RNC called me for fundraising this morning. As the old saying went, Fuhgeddabahtit.

CONSERVATISM is the new vanilla.

Romney should pull NOW.

Then he should apologize, and let any of a number
of real conservatives run as an EXCITING CANDIDATE.

Rats pick the dullest tool in the shed as VP and Big Media tells us how smart they are.

Repubs pick people at least as smart as themselves as VP and Big Media tells us they are morons.

A person primarily known because of his affiliation with "Mr. Jefferson's University," Larry Sabato should be deeply concerned with preserving the principles and ideas of Jefferson in the Year 2012 and making recommendations that would enhance that possibility.

Surely, he knows that the men who articulated the essential ideas of freedom in 1776 were not bland and unoffensive. They were outspoken advocates against tyranny in all its forms and on behalf of Creator-endowed individual liberty at all costs.

Since 1776, America never has needed such men more than now.

I expect this is what Romney will do. Keep smiling, don’t make waves, steer clear of controversy, just sit there and wait for Obama to implode.

Mitt Romney with his VP selection.

I hear about Romney selecting Portman from Ohio. I'm from about 40 miles north of where he was representative and I couldn't pick him out from a crowd. He's about as vanilla as you'll find - and he won't add a single vote for Romney.

I don’t usually agree much with Sabato, but he’s right here, even if for the wrong reasons.

Vice-Presidents rarely become presidents, so why waste a good conservative by sending him/her to a dead-end, powerless job?

I would pick a candidate that could bring in a strategic state if possible.

Save all our top conservatives for cabinet positions, for gubernatorial and congressional positions and for a possible future presidential run. Don’t waste one as a VP.

You think Romney will be so successful that his VP will accede to the presidency? Not going to happen. Only Reagan did that in the modern era, and Bush only lasted one term.

Now, if there is a conservative who can also deliver a battleground state, I’ll change my tune. Got one?

You notice out of all these posts, only one poster can even name a possible specific conservative candidate, which is Tom Ridge. A good man, I don’t know if he’s a good pick.

The rest of the posters are just flinging poo. They demand a true conservative, so which one, flingers?

I wonder if Luis Fortuno is eligible. Now *that* would be interesting, and he has a great record.

I predict it will indeed be a “vanilla” VP pick. My prediction: Sen. John Thune, SD. SD is a pretty conservative state, so replacing him there shouldn’t be a difficult task.
