After falling 32 votes short of the required total
I’m still laughing about this!! You know how pissed off he must be??
Oh, yeah. We do know: These people are not conservatives. They are not Republicans. Theyre radical libertarians and Im offended by it,
The arrogance is similar to Arlen Specter’s: “I’m simply not going to subject my 29-year record in the United States Senate to that Republican primary electorate.”
God forbid the people that sustain you in office decide to throw you out of it. The office isn’t yours, senator. It’s ours.

Hatch has had some tough breaks. First he lost the love of his life, Ted Kennedy, and now this. I almost feel sorry for him.

Lugar and Hatch have more Senate seniority than the other Republicans. I have no doubt some of the guys with less seniority are campaigning against them ~ to improve their own positions.
At the same time we need the new blood over on the Democrat side (BTW)

Now silly...don't you know it's "noble" to primary out someone like Collins who votes with us a majority of the time in a state like Maine...even though the GOP nominee would be gauranteed to lose?
Yep...that would help the cause. Now...in a state like Utah...or even in Indiana...there is no reason to not axe someone like Hatch or Lugar. You can still win the general with conservatives. Maine ain't Utah.

Let's not forget how quickly Hatch caved to Democrats and tossed his aide Manuel Miranda when Miranda found the memo from Jay Rockefeller detailing their plans to undermine Bush from the Intelligence Committee.

He's not gonna lose his check. He gets full retirement now.
What he loses is the prestige and power.

His government check keeps coming!
He wants to keep the power and influence. He wants to keep the expensive lunches and the lavish office. He wants to be called Mr. Chairman again. He wants to continue the unanimous consents allow him to keep his high conservative rating while letting liberal legislation move forward. And above all, he wants to continue to assist liberalism in advancing while thwarting conservatism. He needs to go!

Lugar is history!Man, I sure hope so.
Teddy Kennedy's buddy Hatch can fall by the wayside, too, as far as I'm concerned, although Hatch has never bothered me nearly as much as Lugar.

“After falling 32 votes short of the required total on the final ballot”
Didn’t Hatch spend about $3 million getting his own people to the cauci meetings?
He may find it a little more difficult to pack the voting booths.
Fingers crossed here that Liljenquist can pull this out.
