House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said over the weekend that he hopes Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke sues radio host Rush Limbaugh over comments in which he said Fluke is a "slut" and a "prostitute" for advocating for free contraception as part of her college healthcare plan.
"I'd like to see her take him to court," Hoyer told the Montgomery Advertiser in Alabama. "She is not a public figure and, for that reason, she should be able to sue for slander, libel or whatever else might be involved."

I thought comedians and entertainers were exempt from law suits.
Yeah, Steny. Discovery for that case ought to be a real hoot and a holler.
And, of course, the truth is an absolute defense against libel.
Sarah Palin should sue too, she is not a public figure, she holds no political office, and Bill Maher and David Letterman both said disgusting, vile comments about her ad her daughter..so Hoyer, should the Palin family sue too?
If he proves she’s a slut does he win the case?
Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t recall Sarah Palin suing the 100s of Democrat operatives/media hacks that slandered her and her family four years ago. They were going after the kids. Were there any lawsuits?

Up until the point where she started appearing on tha lame street media, she may have had a case. But with her constant media appearances, she may have become a “public figure.
I’m sure Rush’s full time staff of some of the best lawyers in the nation would have a fun time crushing Ms. Fluke into paste.

She could easily win. She's a disgusting floozie, as described by the first term, but she's not a prostitute - she apparently doesn't charge her (claimed) many customers directly.
Discovery is a bitch, Steny. Probably more than she cares to have known about her. And besides, most people would probably agree that $3,000 in birth control in 36 months = slut.
She made herself a pubic figure by testifying before Congress.....
If she does, she better make sure she isn’t a slut. Rush can afford top legal representation. And we know good attorneys are not going to turn away the money and the limelight.
If she has anything at all out there that isn’t glowing, it would be proof that she really is a slut.
