Poll: Santorum Crushing Romney In Michigan: New PPP Poll Shows Santorum up 15 percent in Romney's home state
The wave of momentum Rick Santorum is riding after his victories in Colorado, Minnesotta, and Missouri last week is carrying him into Michigan. Public Policy Polling released a poll Monday showing Santorum is leading in the Great Lakes State, which is set to hold its primary on Feb. 28.
In the new poll, Santorum is up 15 points on Mitt Romney, with 39 percent of those polled saying they would vote for the former Pennsylvania Senator while 24 percent support Romney. Ron Paul, who PPP puts at 12 percent, is narrowly beating Santorum's "Not-Romney" challenger, Newt Gingrich, by 1 percentage point. Santorum has a majority share of the Tea Party vote, and he is also winning in the evangelical and "very conservative" categories.
The poll is notable not only because of Santorum's significant lead but also due to Mitt Romney being born in Detroit. His father, George Romney, was the Governor of Michigan for six years. Losing the nominating contest in his home state would be a huge blow to Romney's quest for candidacy.
PPP also shows that Santorum is becoming massively popular among the electorate, an important indicator considering the lackluster enthusiasm displayed by Republicans across the country this campaign season. Sixty-seven percent of those polled have a positive view of the man in the sweater vest.

Between 3 and 12 points ahead in Michigan
within 8 in Arizona
ahead in Tennessee
within 9 in Georgia
ahead in Ohio
It’s too bad Santorum and Gingrich were rooked in Virginia. Super Tuesday could have really been Super.
It’s still going to be interesting.
Maybe, if Texas ever gets a primary date, we could be the kingmaker?
Will other Republicans stand up? Wot? I don't think so either.
I remember George Wallace winning the Democratic Primary.
Excellent news!
And all I know is, if we end up with RINO Romney as the nominee, it will be 100% Newts fault. Newt MUST get out now. He can not win. He will only pull votes from Santorum.
Santorum 2012
And you are 100% CORRECT:
GINGRICH MUST WITHDRAW NOW!

Other Republicans and their supporters are to busy tearing Santorum down.
I guess you never heard of a certain former Speaker of the House?
Sorry, children, not gonna happen.
Newt MUST get out now. He can not win. He will only pull votes from Santorum.
Respectfully disagree, dear FReeper. It is Rick Santorum's duty to win the GOP nomination without issuing withdrawal demands from the field of competetion.
Cheers,

Santorum 2012
“Santorum 2012”
Okay...so I’m confused. I like Gingrich.
What has Santorum done? Experience, etc? He’s not ready to be president!!
I honestly think that Obama and his administration is deathly afraid of Gingrich, and Obama and the media is promoting Santorum....the weakest candidate.
My gut feeling.
We are talking the Battle of Midway here folks. A historic pivoting point.
This is Gettysburg. Straight up, game on.
I’m with you - much prefer Newt. Santorum seems to have taken a few lessons in plain speech from Newt, but something uncomfortable stirs when I think of Santorum as our choice.
