I had a friend pose this question: How does Mitt Romney stand on polygamy. After all he is a mormon. This polygamy is in line with sharia law so I kind of started wondering myself.

The official Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, modern version, does not support polygamy.

The Mormons who do practice polygamy are considered a rogue group by the official Mormon church.

Whatever is the official church position on it would be Mitt’s official position.

How does Mitt Romney stand on polygamy. After all he is a mormon.

Most Mormons are against polygamy. However, Mitt's grandfather was a polygamist and fled to Mexico in order to continue practicing it. However his father, born in Mexico, but a US citizen, not a Mexican one, did not practice it,and came to the US as youngster when the family again fled, this time the Mexican Revolution. So Mitt has a some pretty deep and recent polygamist roots.. but still, he only has one wife.. AFAIK. Huntsman is a Mormon too, but one whose family never left the US. But frankly, I don't give a tinker's dam about that. I had a Morman roomate at ROTC field training. At least one other guy in our flight was also Mormon. My daughter had a good friend who was Mormom. None of them wanted to kill me like many members of a certain other religion that still allows and encourages polyagmy. In fact at that time BYU had an AFROTC cadet Wing, whereas most schools had at best a Group, and IIRC BYU's ROTC detachment was the largest in the nation. May still be... Nope, that would be Texas A&M

But BYU still has a cadet Wing. I do care about Mitt's record, which is pretty socialist and I will not be voting for him in the Primary, just like I did not vote for McCain, not that it mattered by the time Texans got to weigh in.

Frankly, he's the worst thing that ever happened to the Mormon religion. Before this is over, he is what people are going to think Mormons are and it's not going to be pretty.
