Watching TV on my PC (vanity)
Former Fetus

Posted on 12/17/2011 6:10:09 PM PST by Former Fetus

Every so often I want to watch some TV program in my PC. Ok, it usually is football! When I google "this game lifestream" I usually get lots of sites from where I can download something for free that will allow me to watch the game. But I don't know anything about that site, how safe it is... Does any body have any recommendations? At least, does someone know how I can watch the Denver-New England game tomorrow? Thanks

No sports bars in your town?

People, if you have a link, please email to this chap PRIVATELY!! The NFL actively searches message boards like this for published links, so that it can shut sites down.

I think you have to subscribe to the NFL’s streaming service, which costs money. For a while I used to listen to the main Bronco Station KOA on the internet, but they stopped streaming games over the internet.

Have you tried other stations on the Broncos radio net? It’s not uncommon for the smaller ones to ignore the streaming restriction.

If you get a good response, can you please FReepmail me?

I’m going to be visiting my Dad and family in a very small town in Virginia late this coming week and need to find a way to stream the Texans - Colts game next Thursday night.

It’s on NFL Network and Dad doesn’t have that channel.

If worse comes to worst, there’s a nearby place we can go to watch, but we’d rather not, if possible.

Thanks!

I did listen to them for a while years ago, but several years ago they stopped because of copyright issues from the NFL. I didn't try it again until last weekend. Funny, the KOA site seems to imply that you can listen to the game, but when I actually tried, it cut out a minute after the kickoff, never to return. I tried a few other stations in the network, but never heard the game. I'd like to hear if anyone has success, if it is free and legal.

I’m sure it’s perfectly safe. Who would want to spy on you? This whole deal with hackers is overblown. Nobody cares about your online banking passwords, credit card numbers stored in your cache.

I have no idea if this particular game is on, but I have Verizon’s NFL app on my cell phone that shows some games via your mobile, and some phones have a HDMI adapter so you can watch it on TV (iPhone, some Droids can do this).

perhaps. but most of those players are just a way to take your money and provide streams you can get elsewhere for free. Plus 99.9% of the streams are offline or flat out suck.

Google the name of the software and “review”.. Won’t take long to sort out the good (if there is one) from the bad.

If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

Isn’t on CBS?...that’s a local channel for most people. In So Cal, it’s channel 2.

I thought it would be, but when I checked the team site, it didn't list it.

It looks like the dang Thursday night games are broadcast on NFL network.

CBS does our all of local games (and I attend all the home games), but I don't see that one listed anywhere outside of our area.

I HATE being out of town when my team is playing. GRRRRRRR....

I'll find the dang thing somehow...

Arguably watching streaming video online from any source which does not have approval from the originator of that video, is theft.

Just saying.

See also, Napster.

The NFL has made a rights deal with Sirius and the league also has its own pay internet audio feed, so they’re protecting those by having the regional stations block streaming. The Sirius coverage has both home and away broadcasts for every game.

A local station with the rights to carry the broadcast is probably violating its rights agreement if it fails to interrupt its internet stream during the game, but a lot of small town stations these days are fully automated. I don’t know what the legality issue would be to listening to something being broadcast on the internet by a station that has licensed the broadcast solely for local use. You’d think the liability would be with the station, not the listener.

The real legality issues attach to those sites that are streaming video coverage that they don’t have the rights to. The NFL goes after them, and after bars that are showing them. In those situations, you’re dealing with people who are knowingly using an illegally obtained feed.

Another big bootleg sports area is European soccer broadcasts, particularly English. Many of the shady sites are in the former Soviet Union.
