Triple Lutz Report--Black Friday Unrest Escalates
KerryLutz.com ^ | 11-27-11 | Kerry Lutz

Posted on 11/27/2011 6:23:59 AM PST by appeal2

Record numbers of Americans found themselves stuck in Black Friday mob scenes across the country. There were reports of shootings, pepper sprayings, riots and a lot of bad behavior. As FinancialCollapseBlog.com said, "Look what's happening when people are trying to save $20, can you imagine what it will be like when millions of people don't know where their next meal is coming from?"

This orgy of consumerism seems to bring out the worst in people. Understanding why is beyond the scope of this report, however, it seems to be indicative of a larger problem that is confronting the country and the world. Whereas families used to stay at home and enjoy close times during Thanksgiving, the definition of entertainment and the need to shop have supplanted these healthy family get togethers. It is unfortunate that much of the country has lost site of the important things in life. Perhaps, as we travel further down the road of economic collapse, there will be a return to traditional values. One can only hope.

Should Black Friday be banned or cut back dramatically?

What amazes me is that these are people fighting over non sustanance items. What happeneds when there’s a food shortage or none at all?

Absolutely not!

People discover for themselves what is important. So far, money and stuff are important on Black Friday.
Thanksgiving OUGHT to be a day of prayer, to thank GOD for His many blessings. If Thanksgiving WERE such a day, it's my guess that Black Friday wouldn't be SUCH a blow-out for consumerism.

“Should Black Friday be banned or cut back dramatically?”

I don’t like the idea of shotgun management or making another law/rule because a small percentage of our population act like animals. Citizens are informed every year about these incidents. They can choose to go shopping and deal with this mayhem or stay at home. I see the call of banning it somewhat like trying to ban firearms. Some moron will use a gun to rob a grocery store and you have the usual group saying, “Wouldn’t it be better if NO ONE had a firearm”. That being said, we stayed home on Black Friday as a family and ate tons of leftovers.

And while we are out here scrambling to find a bargain made from CHEAP CHINESE JUNK, because we have LESS money in our pay checks to fulfill a few CHRISTmas wishes for our families, please remember this.

When you look at the clothing BINGES that the Mooch has been on then you wonder how any one needs that many clothes. Being a multi-millionaire’s wife, they should be buying their own clothes, NOT THE TAX SERFS!

Please pass this on and be sure to post it to your FB too.

Yup. It illustrates how our so called civilized society is really only a step or two removed from real discord, possibly anarchy.

Someone in another thread referenced the old Twilight Zone episode where the man had built a bomb shelter while his neighbors ridiculed him. Then came a [false] nuclear alert and they all turned into animals.

For those who have stockpiled food and essentials, there may be some very painful (and dangerous) decisions ahead when the SHTF and your neighbors realize they have only a week's supply of groceries.

What is wrong with picking up bargains through out the year as you find them on the mark down racks? That is how I do the majority of my CHRISTmas shopping. The retired Senior Chief is the hardest to buy for, he has all the tools and clothes he needs.

Being a multi-millionaire’s wife, they should be buying their own clothes

They've lived off other peoples money all their life. That's why they can't understand why those who are doing the earning are refusing to share. For them, everything should be free, because that's all they've ever known.

This is why a welfare slug should never hold the presidency. He is unable to represent the majority - the people or the engine that runs the country.

You can take the obomas our of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the obomas.

Should Black Friday be banned

Not in a free country.

If people don't like black Friday - stay home that day. If more people decided to stay home, black Friday would eliminate itself. Not one freedom would be lost.

You are a smart woman, GailA. Nothing wrong with it at all! I pick up a few things for my cousin-in-law during the Summer. The kids don’t make a list till late November; however, I go during the day... several days after Black Friday. The only exception is today. I have to go and find two nice outfits/shoes for the girls since we have a banquet to go to next weekend. I’m not thrilled with this idea but the 11 year old has to try outfits on since she is a weird size. Wish me luck! (Senior Chief has got to need something... a wet/dry vac/ or a new chain saw?). Not being funny but is his undies/socks without rips/tears? Does he really like a sports team so you can get him a sweatshirt? Just throwing out ideas for you!!!

No. Responsible people are preparing by stocking up, getting their financial house in order, and learning new skills. The FSA is merely practicing for their future, as violent leeches. Shouldn't they be allowed to prepare, as well?

I agree. You can’t ban Black Friday. It is distressing to see these stores help create these situations. I’m against laws/regulations to deal with it, however every store should adopt a plan to minimize the potential for these disturbances to take place.

Many of the stores, IMHO, create a frenzy type attitude. Best Buy, for example, may have these great sale on television X... however, the fine print will show that stock is limited. By limited, I mean they have ten. A rude, self centered, prone to violence or pepper spraying people type of person is going to camp out and then fight to be one of the ten. Stores that pull this sort of bull have no concern for the safety of their customers. IMHO. I’m not taking responsibility away from the idiot who decides to punch someone in the face to get the television. However, I am saying that the store contributed somewhat to the frenzy.

Then, a lot of them will end up dead - fighting over trinkets is a lot different that trying to take food out of their adversaries mouths.

A little perspective here. We’ve had plenty of riots in this country and aren’t nowhere near that - yet.
