The Columbia Association, which operates 23 pools in Howard, will join other communities that have made similar accommodations to create a more welcoming atmosphere for Muslims and other female swimmers.
BALTIMORE SUN When Shehlla Khans husband became ill, it fell on her to take their three children to the pool. But for Khan, who is Muslim, the task was difficult. The Columbia resident said she was concerned about people watching her swim in the conservative, cover-all dress required by Islamic dress codes, and thinking: Whats wrong? Why cant you take it off?

Not saying it will happen...just saying that it is a BIG possibility.
Why wait to convert Europe...just buy their outstanding debt for pennies on the dollar and own them.
A timely post. We were talking with some friends who live in Howard Country just this past weekend. They are all planning to leave. It seems that the school system, which has had a good reputation, is a magnet for foreigners.
OK. Here’s the plan.
We all go to Maryland and recruit the following:
A male transvestite.
A female transvestite.
A (currently) male transsexual.
A (currently) female transsexual.
And several lesbians of both the “lipstick” and “butch” varieties.
March them all to the pool when the Mohammedan broads are swimming and demand that they be admitted due to their various (if tenuous) claims on womanhood.
Let’s how fast the Mohammedans evacuate the area.
Morgana lives in West (by God) Virginia, right? Close enough to help with the recruiting.
....... and of course our own resident amphibian can just show up in her Hallowe’en outfit - a woman dressed as a man who dresses as a woman.
It’ll take ‘em all year to sort ~that~ one out.
Imagine if a Christian group wanted a group prayer before they swam. Would the state shut down the pool until after the prayer is done? If not, why not?
Actually, Columbia, Maryland is a ‘planned community’ aka gulag. Association covenants and regulations control everything; from painting your house to parking your cars.
All homeowners pay HOA and other membership fees for the privilege of using the common amenities (pools). As many of the posters commented (following the article). Entering a pool, fully clothed, is both unhygenic and dangerous - for the muslim and others in the pool. Liability insurance will escalate or this will be a passing fad, maybe there will be a huge increase in requests for jprivate swimming pool building permits. That might be the new shovel ready job in Maryland;)
Hey, I've got a GREAT idea! Why doesn't Khan move to a country where that sort of third-world crap is already established, so she can feel right at home? You know, like whatever country she came from?
My daughter works at one of the countries largest museums. She says the Muslims are always demanding a free pass simply because they're members of some type of Muslim organization.
She doesn't give them one. She tells them religious organizations are treated just like the non-religious groups in order to keep it fair for everyone.
I bet *you* know somewhere that they do this all the time, right?
===================================
No doubt they are looking at the policy to ensure no one civil rights are violated.
Yep...but not in the US of A.
They do this in places where there are camel herds and sand and loud caterwauling from multiple loudspeakers five times a day.
“...she was concerned about people watching her swim in the conservative, cover-all dress required by Islamic dress codes,...
Talk it out with a shrink.
Of those things, that pagan adhan would bother me the most.
Hey, that's a good idea, Shibumi! They could also bring their pulled-pork barbeque sandwich sack lunches!
I wonder if there are any cosmetics, sunscreens or lotions etc that have a pig fat base?
HA! If not, we could start a company using pork fat in cosmetics, etc., and label them “halal-friendly.”
Ugh....there have always been at least three of them near me on the bases and it was annoying on the best of days.
And being in a blended Shia/Sunni country, you get to hear it twice about half and hour or so apart, because they have different parameters for the prayer call...all based upon sun/moon positions or what they determine as "dark." Sheeesh!
Hey in America we can get rich. Instead of NORTH FACE we sell them a women's line of clothing called NO FACE.
Fislam, and the sharia it rode in on.
“Sorry - Separation of church and state. No religious support allowed.”
Great post! The state is spending public tax dollars to accomodate religious beliefs.
Wet Burkha Contest!!!
Correction — they’re not religious beliefs, they’re muslim beliefs.
I would NEVER have my family go to these pools ever. We have a private pool in our community that only people who live in our neighborhood can use. I would NEVER have my family use a public pool. I would rather them sweat or me pull out a hose than to use a public pool. How disgusting in so many ways.

I know it would get my attention.
The title is misleading. Columbia was the Rouse Company’s first planned housing development in Howard County, Maryland. The Columbia Association is the ruling entity for Columbia and owns the pools. The pools are some of the private amenities for residents of Columbia, all of whom pay mandatory HOA fees for the privilege.
The State of Maryland and Howard County have nothing to do with this decision.
But we can’t talk about exactly where as only the three of us have been there!
They should return to where they came from, whichever islamic paradise.
Previously posted the other day - basically same from the Sun.

The school system is a myth. No better than any other. The main reason it’s “better” is because of the demographics - affluent or at least well-off people of professional calibre tend to congregate here.
Take it from my mom, a teacher here almost from the time she moved here for 20 years - back in the “old days”. And I’m a student alumna here, as are my elder siblings. Even back then they were forced into a LOUSY Kolumbia school. We can vouch there are at least 2 Kolumbia high schools that are and have been lousy all their lives; the others are overrated.
Is Jessup part of Columbia? It is on the other side of I-95 and looks to be closer to Ft. Meade than the township of Columbia.
I want my own HOV lane and commuting time; I'm concerned about people watching me drive.
Is that an honor killing?
:p
I got a good chuckle out of that one!
Wouldn’t it be nice to have it really happen?
Maybe it could be something along the lines of Candid Camera. You record them while the freak parade is full swing. Record and download to youtube.
Kolumbia skools probably still a lot better than those in ‘PeeGee’ County. LOL.
Yeah - again, because of the demographics. ;-)
No, Jessup far predates Kolumbia; it’s a classic “Route 1” area. But some in Jessup try to co-opt the “Columbia” banner to attract people.
They should return to where they came from, whichever islamic paradise.

Oh, that looks good! {drool}
That would look mighty fine on a T-shirt, too. ;-)
Ya think!?!
I think!! I like!!
I see nothing wrong with segregated swimming nights according to gender..the fact that is was brought up by a muslim doesn't mean its automatically bad..it deserves some thought.
Us girls felt freer than when the boys were also swimming with us. Open swimming was for those that didn't mine both sex's swimming at the same time. age was also taken in consideration at swimming times. Younger children had earlier swimming times.
Not sure about other pools in the area - don’t use them - they might also be ‘privately owned’ by other Home Owners Association(s) - not tax-payer funded. The ‘planned community association’ BOD members are responsible for making decisions....much like elected County and State supervisors. Same difference....it’s all about power and pushing an agenda.
There’s the mandatory HOA fee and perhaps optional membership fees for using facilities. Otherwise it’s communism for the affluent.
Columbia seems to be a clean and well maintained community, and I suppose a pleasant/convenient place to live, but there’s a sterile feel to it. Guess I’m just not a planned community type of person. Regards.
Family members lived there - and you are correct - it is sterile. No landmarks of consequence - it’s very easy to get lost because all the ‘villages’ look alike.
It is not a ‘gated’ community and there are criminal elements in some areas. Mostly vehicle theft and home break-ins.
Bedroom community for commuters to Baltimore and Washington DC. Close to Annapolis and other historical places.
“No landmarks of consequence - its very easy to get lost because all the villages look alike.”
Perfect description! There’s a ‘sameness’ to it that almost makes it like a corn maze. Regards.
