Tony Fabrizio on team Rick Perry?
Miami Herald Type Pad ^ | October 24, 2011 | Marc Caputo

Posted on 10/24/2011 8:00:38 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

A few moments after we wondered when Gov. Rick Scott's pollster, Tony Fabrizio, would join Rick Perry's presidential team, Politico coincidentally reported that Republican campaign sources say he has or will soon.

Fabrizio has been in talks with the campaign since and before Perry's disastrous performance at the Republican Party of Florida's Presidency 5 straw poll. Just after the event, Perry sources had told people that Fabrizio was signing on. But Fabrizio, obviously, hadn't. Still, chances are the Politico piece is spot on. And, if so, it's bad news for Mitt Romney.

Fabrizio, along with newly hired Perry ad-men Nelson Warfield and Curt Anderson, are among the most adept at turning the crosstabs of polls in political messages that kneecap opponents. Here's our profile of Fabrizio:

"If you love or hate Rick Scott as governor, there’s one man who deserves a lion’s share of the credit or blame: Tony Fabrizio.

A cigar-smoking data-crunching pollster, Fabrizio is the person Scott insiders point to as being the brains behind the Republican’s improbable transformation from political nobody to governor of the nation’s most important swing state.

Fabrizio’s role as Scott’s pollster and strategist didn’t end with the governor’s election. He still plots strategy, hones the governor’s message and polls for Scott by way of the Republican Party of Florida, which has paid him more than $183,000 since Election Day.

“During the transition, there was a belief that we’re here to govern and politics is over,” said Fabrizio. “Well, politics is never over. Now we have to think a lot more about the big picture. And there are a lot more opportunities.”

Fabrizio, 51, is all strategy, all the time.

As a Floridian....I say ‘Thank you to Tony for my Governor Rick Scott’.

And as a Rick Perry supporter I hope to say...’Thank you’ again.

If this turns out to be true, and I think it is, then it’s going to be really fun to watch.

Ah, he's probably just part of the "establishment", right?

Oh, well, Cain hired establishment, Steve Grubbs, but probably one person's establishment person is acceptable, while another's is not acceptable.

I would say the most frustrating thing about some of the posters on FR is their belief that Cain is an outsider.

Governors are outsiders because the constantly have to deal with a combative Washington and their loyalty is to their state.

Cain was top adviser to Dole/Kemp, he has already run for President and the Senate. He was a lobbyist.

That doesn't mean he shouldn't be President, it just means he's not an outsider.

Now that we have established that, I want the guy who will put the team together to win. A half hearted attempt at defeating Obama would be disastrous.

Here's another challenge for the Cain supporters. He stepped in it again just this am on Fox and Friends. Of course, the Cain supporters will find a way to blame F & F for Cain's confusing remarks but here is a quote:

:Cain was asked whether abortion should be part of the political discussion. "No it should not quite frankly. But my position is real clear and has been consistent, I am pro-life," he said. The former Godfather's Pizza CEO has repeatedly called himself "pro-life" but said "it's not the government's role or anybody else's role to make that decision" in a recent CNN interview."

Per Jennifer Rubin at WAPO earlier this morning...
A GOP operative told me last night, “I had heard about a week ago that there was a move to get rid of Dave Carney. This was almost 100% predictable given the collapse of the Perry campaign. Plus, when Perry was deciding if he should run, Carney had made assurances to him that he could do very well in New Hampshire.” Perry is now in the low single digits there. Carney is expected to remain on the campaign but plainly has lost his perch as the top campaign guru. (I asked the Perry campaign for comment this morning; there was no response as of the time of this posting.)

Thanks for the campaign insight RR, and CW, thanks for the additional links.

Austin Power(s), huh? Well, it’s kind of cute, I guess. :)

Maybe Perry will find this mojo back big time then!
