Google is taking a collection of donations to alleviate starvation in East Africa. Sounds great, I hope the food actually gets to the starving people. But as one of those darn conservatives, I wonder how likely Google's method is to circumvent political impediments such as local authorities who'd rather their people be starving than relinquish wrongheaded modes of exercising power. Is TROP going to be a problem here?
Well, if they can do it, more power to’em. But, once they get a reality check they will find the corruption is so bad that little to any thing will get to where it’s really needed. The rest will be stolen or destroyed.
I wonder what measures, if any, they will take to see that their food doesn’t lead to a mini population explosion, leading to that many more mouths to feed and that much more urgency to do so.
That would take quite a while wouldn’t it?
Uhuru was going to bring unicorns and rainbows, free food, clean water, electricity, paved roads, a functioning rail system, exports, septic systems, and modern health care to the starving slaves of the former French, Belgian, Dutch, British, German and Italian owners. You know, all the things Africa had before the Europeans and Indians were thrown out.
It must be Bush's fault.
NO starvation’s Their friend, soon they will reach parity with the food supply, all will be well!
It's a bunch of feel-good liberal BS. Money is not the problem. Food is not the problem. The politics of local tribalism is the problem.
How about alleviating starvation and homelessness in the San Francisco Bay Area, you fatuous liberal hypocrites?
I guess people have forgotten about Black Hawk Down and the pirates who beheaded the Christian couple in their sailboat. I don’t want my tax dollars feeding the enemy.
If Google did, the grounds of their HQ would be swarmed with the local bums (and out-of-luck people) looking for the handouts. East Africa is too distant for that to happen.
This looks like a wholly private affair, not a government lobbying campaign, but yeah, this territory would include Somalia wouldn’t it. This includes some hard core pirates who’d happily hijack Google aid ships. Not that I’d mind Google dollars going to Blackwater (or whatever it’s called now) for security. I’d happily patronize Google again if they’d blow a bunch of pirates away to get their aid in.
First Google destroyed millions of small business affiliates and search engine results with its retarded Panda algorithm, and now these bozos want to feed hungry Africans?
Google is confused on what its mission is. Is it feeding hungry African kids or trying to save adsense before it collapses? Give the food money to Save the Children or some other charity that can get the food where needed. Then figure out how to rebuild your shakey reputation.
Google’s motto: We do evil.
Here comes 10¢ Google stock. Sell while you can.
