in the asbestos birdcage.

LOL. You sure are. Your vanity is well done, well thought out, and well presented.

I'm not anti-Perry like I am anti-Romney, I'll support him if he wins (so far) and vote for him.

You have given some very good debating points and hopefully will make more than a few Perry supporters rethink their enthusiasm.

Kudos to your work, I am now off to finish reading the thread for the various responses.

and even more bizarre is that some of the moderates from that time allied with still departed Howlin and Stinkie who all left to anti freep over Rudy Giuliani...are now back and running hard as Palin supporters still having zotgasms over folks who get in their way..

That's about as far from true as possible. If you have some names let us know, but I think you just posted a smear that is disgusting to most of us on FR who hope she runs. If you don't give us some names, then kindly withdraw the slur.

I have found no current writings where the Perry and Bush dislike has been mended.

Last week before he entered the race, Perry had an interview where he stated that he was friends with the Bush clan and had called W for advice over the presidential run. It's very clear Perry considers they have a close relationship and he values it.

You forgot to include that Perry met with the Bilderbergers, just like Reagan.

Thanks for the thoughtful post.

Well done, the best defense of Perry as a candidate on the thread.

Frankly speaking, infiltration of the US is so widespread that I seriously doubt many are even aware of it. YEARS ago, local school kids had a one-week 'Islamic week,' during which they studied, had to say 'prayers,' etc. AND THAT WAS PART OF THE CURRICULUM.

See the Gulen charter schools. http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2011/06/07/education/07charter-ch.html?ref=education. Where there's oil, there's money. And where there's money, there are Islamic agents provacateurs.

Wonder if Perry ran off to Wideawakes too then...?”

LOL!

“ansel12: “As far as what he believes NOW, he evidently believes that Rudy Giuliani “He’s the closest thing we have to a Ronald Reagan Republican in this race” speaking of 2008.”

Yikes! That one certainly left a mark...

Guiliani = Reagan? LOL!”

The irony being, if Perry were a FReeper he’d have been zotted.

It’s called vetting. Here, read this, it’s from a highly respected conservative: http://michellemalkin.com/2011/08/16/rick-perrys-bad-obama-style-medicine/

Is there any truth to the charge that Perry played a role in advancing the ‘Islam is a religion of peace’ meme in TX classrooms?

It isn't an accusation, you are defending Perry's passionately working to replace President Reagan at the heights of the Reagan administrations efforts against the Soviet Union, with a liberal Democrat President.

I don't like to have to wade through your pro Al Gore BS.

If you really believed all that about Al Gore in 1988, then your judgement is deeply flawed.

wardaddy, wow, you have real bona fides re the Cuban exile community, what with the Brigada 2506 and Betancourt (a true hero) and all. I wouldn’t mind having a ‘cafecito’ with you to banter more on this. My feeling is that the failure of the U.S. to back up 2506 and its mission, caused the greatest harm ever to fall on the U.S. (Castro survival, Soviet missiles, with a consequent knee-jerk reaction to over do it in Vietnam 3 years later). We are still reeling from the effects of this today. Ironically, though, had 2506 been successful, I would not be here today.

It isn't an accusation

Please look up the definition of "accusation."

I don't like to have to wade through your pro Al Gore BS.

It's not pro-Gore B.S. It's an explanation offered for why Perry supported him in 1988.

If you really believed all that about Al Gore in 1988, then your judgement is deeply flawed.

My judgment in 1988 is irrelvant. Al Gore's 1988 positions of pro-life, pro-guns, pro-defense, and pro-tobacco are documented facts. There is plenty of evidence out there available for your review to verify that information.

a long time ago...6 years in Miami..shipping business left early 90s..owned some smaller breakbulk ships

Betancourt was a quiet little guy...he had been caught before trying to sneak back into Cuba..sad when I saw what happened to him on the news...he deserves a monument one day in his homeland

I have a friend in Lauderdale still...we were all down last April for a few days..stayed at the Sagamore...they gave us this great penthouse for half price...I cannot believe how much has changed..wow...Lincoln Road street life...Ocean Drive had just started with one or two spots when I first got to Miami in 88

My wife and 3 youngest loved it...ate at Joe's and Casa Juancho...saw all the old houses I lived in...but man...the traffic...Dade population is almost double now what it was then...I still knew how to avoid all the clogs

it's funny...totally different subject but it looks like the Dope business is over there...it's different..better...Perico was everywhere in my day...huge...tonnes and tonnes of it coming in and cartel guys living next door and Willie and Sal still going strong...if you're old enough you know the history...it was a cowboy town with lots of action...and good lord at the money...Dope transformed Miami quicker and more from 1975 to 1995 than anything that ever came down the pike in her history...except la Barba

now the nice parts are more like high areas of Europe..Spain or Italy...Miami is the true capital of Latin America but now there are a lot of Europeans new there

if you avoid the ghettos, it's not so bad you know...nowhere in the world do so many folks live on the water and it's so clean and beautiful

Please note that the ACU rating to which you refer was not Gore’s lifetime rating in 1988. It was his rating for 1988. What I mean by that is that the ACU’s yearly rating is based on a legislator’s votes for ONLY the bills considered (voted upon) that year. So if there were no bills about abortion or gun control in a particular year, the rating doesn’t reflect a legislator’s overall positions on those issues.

Don’t take my word for it. Please go to the ACU website and read about how they calculate their ratings. I have been unable to find Gore’s lifetime ACU rating from 1988. So I have researched his positions on various conservative issues. He was pro-life, pro-guns, & pro-defense.

But the two years beforehand it had been 6 and 8 respectively; for three years that's an average of 7.34.

Not good sir. If you have some links showing Gore voted pro-life, pro-gun, and pro-defense I'd love to see them.
