With less than 5 weeks before the special election to replace disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-New York), a new poll shows Democrat David Weprin with only a 6 point lead over Republican Bob Turner in a congressional district that has been represented by a Democrat since 1924. One of the reasons for the closer than expected contest: many in the district's large Jewish community believe Mr. Turner would serve them better with regard to American policies on Israel.

Didn't Mayor Edward I. Koch endorse Turner because he thinks how Netanyahu was treated by Obami was awful?

Koch made the endorsement to send a message to the administration about all of its policies regarding Israel. I don’t know if there was some specific comment made by him about Netanyahu’s treatment.

Sad to say, Republican Turner is playing NOT to lose rather than to win! He will go down 65/35 because the old Jews in the district won’t vote Republican NO matter what PERIOD!

So you expect him to do worse in a special election than he did in 2010, against an incumbant Democrat, in year that Democrats were out in force statewide? NY-9 has become more Republican in the last decade, perhaps the only district in the state to do so.
Are you a New Yorker or just an ignorant pontificator from afar?
