The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) held a Forum on June 20, 2011 at the Rayburn House Building entitled, A Solution in Search of a Problem: The Impact of Anti-Sharia Bills in America. The Initiative stems from recent bills introduced by state legislators (and passed in Oklahoma) that aim to bar adherence to Sharia law and make it a punishable offense. The recent anti-Sharia bill in Tennessee met with a huge outcry from Muslim activist groups as well as from the ACLU. The outcry was effective in causing Republican State Senator Bill Ketron and House Speaker Pro Tempore Judd Matheny to offer a revision which now contains no reference to Islam, but still allows the state to prosecute those who offer terrorist entities financial support.
The argument put forth by Muslim activist groups like MPAC and echoed by panelists at the forum such as Noah Bakr, Commissioner of the Montgomery (MD) County Commission on Women who just completed doctorate work in Near Eastern and Islamic studies at Princeton University, is that Sharia is a broad set of principles which a Muslim lives by that concern doing good and protecting life, liberty, property, and justice for all. She defines Sharia literally as a path to the watering hole and says that Sharia is consistent with democratic ideals. When arguments were made about Sharias punishment for adultery, Bakr countered by saying that stoning of an adulterer can only be done when there are four adult witnesses to the act.

I find it strange that I see nothing about honor killings, stoning, or beheadings in this article. If they want sharia I suggest they go to the nearest third world middle east rat hole they can find and stay there.
(1) Draw the proponents fo sharia and leading muzzie theologians into a level playing field discusssion and debate about the legitimacy of their "scriptures" and the 'revelations" that inspired the Qur*n...
(1) Expose the prophet as false -- not sent from the One True God... ( See Deuteronomy 18)
(2)Expose the shifting sands of faulty man-authored theology manipulated to control tribal populations and advance the Isl*mic "gospel" by the sword....
(3) Apply the literary of science of textual criticism to all ancient "teachings" of the ROP; Compared to say...

THEN......
Let reasonable, educated, literate and thinking people everywhere draw their own conclusions.
It's not rocket surgery...
MPAC know what we’re trying to do and they are trying to prevent it. You don’t wait until you see termite damage to start spraying and taking preventative measures. You don’t wait until Sharia becomes part of the legal process to try to prevent it.
“The test of every religious, political, or educational system is the man that it forms.” Henri Frederic Amiel
If your faith produces only ‘men’ who insist on violence against Non-Muslims, are committed to global terrorism against unarmed civilians, force gender apartheid and routinely beat and de humanize women then yes, your faith is inferior.
The simplest solutions are usually the most effective:

i agree. but discussing theology, bogs down in freedom of religion.
i prefer even simpler.
a straight legal discussion, of specific Islamic scripture and teachings, that violate our laws.
(which the Mormon precedent with polygamy, shows trumps even freedom of religion.)
the Quran itself, IS hate speech.
those laws that the libs are so fond of... the Quran violates. (especially hated of Jews)
and, it does not recognize the legitimacy of any non Islamic sharia-compliant government.
so, it is inherently seditious.
and if they try that taquiyya nonsense,
to sand-dance,
we know which verses officially take precedence.
we KNOW about abrogation...
islam cannot be reformed. To think so is utterly insane.
That’s why apostates are killed.
This discussion is merely mindless masturbation.
