Mitt Romney is the man to beat for the GOP nomination because he has the money and fundraising prowess, the backing of the GOP establishment, the recent embrace of his candidacy by the media (according to Rush Limbaugh "He's now their guy"), his ducks in a row, the next-in-line meme and an insurmountable lead in the national polls over the field except for Sarah Palin to give him good reason to think he will be anointed the next GOP nominee. Romney is so confident of his current position in the catbird seat that he told Piers Morgan in a recent interview he plans to take off most of the summer (till Labor Day) and later we all found out Romney is skipping the Ames Straw poll in Iowa in the middle of August.
As for the media (including journolists, MSM pollsters and bloggers) that has now gone "all in" for Romney despite prior misgivings on Romneycare and Mitt's flip-flopping past, most of its members first get all their marching orders and talking points from the Obama WH or the GOP establishment and secondly understand the role it is playing in unveiling diversionary tactics, straw men or smoke and mirrors to cover up the premise that the GOP presidential race is and will become until the end of the race a two-person showdown between Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin once she enters the race. In other words they are going to try to convince you 2+2= 5.
And that is the one idea that the media absolutely refuses to acknowledge or even hint at for public consumption and it is even taboo to bring it up anywhere where voters congregate or get their news.
Instead what the media is now attempting to do is to create contra-narratives that prevent the GOP primary voters from learning the truth about the lay of land where the GOP presidential race now stands and will unfold in the future and have them believe false or exaggerated narratives that have no basis in reality or little chance of being brought to fruition. The ultimate goal of the media is to keep as many GOP primary voters in the dark and estranged from Sarah Palin's tent as possible.
Here are 10 narratives that the media is attempting to shove down the throats of unsuspecting voters so that they never learn the truth of or remain blind to the realistic probability of a Romney-Palin showdown or even consider the possibility when they are in the process of making their decision whom to support in the primaries.
1)Denying Sarah Palin will enter the race. How can there be a showdown at the OK Corral if one member of the duel is still on the sidelines? And the media refuses to make any link between The Undefeated and the looming possibility of a Palin run.
2)Romney is NOT all that formidable and actually a paper tiger. Today on the Situation Room, Wolf Blitzer asked John King about Romney's chances to secure the nomination given he was doing well in the polls. King proceeded to downplay Romney's position and to portray Romney as weak as a kitten (my words), that the polls were in a state of flux, that Romney still had flaws and therefore the race was wide open.
This reminded me of when Bill Belichick of the NE Patriots in his weekly news conference adopts the strategy of downplaying his team's chances to prevail while elevating the opposition, while reporters know the Patriots are in the catbird seat against most teams.
3)The media promotion or build-up of candidates like Jon Huntsman but ignoring the fact that Huntsman is only polling 2% in the polls, while Romney is averaging close to 25% in support. That's like trying to claim with a straight face that the 200th ranked golfer in the world has a really good shot at winning a major. Mitt Romney is quaking in his boots thinking about the prospective candidacy of Jon Huntsman. Yea, right!
4) Not reporting on the current state of the horse race (recent national polls of GOP contenders) that show Sarah Palin as the only candidate within striking distance of Mitt Romney. Currently the Real Clear Politics average of polls has Romney at 24.4% and Palin is at 16.0% with nobody else who was included in the mix in at least 50% of the polls not even in double digits.
5)Claiming that Michele Bachmann is now the main rival to Mitt Romney after the NH debate but not citing that her RCP average now sits at 6.3%. In addition the media has gone way overboard to promote Bachmann as a substitute for Sarah Palin without mentioning possible flies in the ointment that might derail her chances (her and her husband apparently inaugurated a program to convert gays into a straight lifestyle) or that no Congressman has gone directly from Congress to the WH since 1880 (Garfield)but what is really telling is Leftist and Obama worshipper Chris (tingles)Matthews, a noted Bachmann basher from a year ago when they had an open confrontation on Hardball, on Friday told Bill Maher that MB had presidential timber and in his eyes apparently can do no wrong. And finally there is no hint or mention by the media that Bachmann may be a stalking-horse for Mitt Romney.
6)MSM pollsters boosting other candidates than Palin(PPP boosting Cain's poll numbers this week that are truly unimaginable, Rasmussen touting the ascendancy of Bachmann without Palin in the mix)thereby trying to create the false impression of a Romney-Cain showdown, a Romney-Bachmann showdown or a Romney-Huntsman showdown. Romney vs Palin is not even considered for discussion on cable news or worthy of a column.
7)No mention of a Romney-Palin showdown totally omits Romney's lack of political resonance among conservatives, evangelicals and Tea Party supporters. Judge Napolitano this week in his interview with Palin proved he is a bit of a loose cannon by suggesting that if Palin could coalesce conservatives and Tea Party members under one tent, her tent, that she might be a "game changer" once she enters the race and could eventually derail Romney's chances at the nomination.
8)The media failing to acknowledge even 4-5 weeks later that the GOP presidential race fundamentally changed when Mike Huckabee withdrew from the competition in that both Romney and Palin surged creating more separation between Romney and Palin vs the rest of the field. Instead the media still insists 2012 is like no other year (rather than 1976 or 1980) and they fantasize about a dark horse rising from the ranks to prevail in the end. Of course they never mention that has not been done since 1940 and that going back to modern primary system starting after 1972 that no GOP nominee has ever prevailed without being at least in double-digits in the polls the preceding June. And as we know only Romney and Palin fit that bill taking all the recent polls into account.
9)At the same time the media is saying the race is wide open, it is seeking to downplay the chances of Pawlenty and Gingrich to prevail. The last time I checked Tim and Newt were doing better in the polls than Huntsman and Santorum. Could the media have a vested interest in undermining both candidacies because they have a good idea where their supporters would end up: Mitt Romney?
And by the same token does the media have a vested interest to make damned sure that the hands of Bachmann, Cain and Santorum are strengthened among conservative voters so they are in a better position to bleed conservative votes away from Sarah Palin next year?
10) And finally from the media there is NOT even a hint of a vast right-wing conspiracy to stop Sarah Palin from entering the race or failing that to torpedo her chances to compete successfully against Romney? Why? Because the media would then have to admit that Sarah Palin is a force to be reckoned, thus elevating her in the public consciousness and further LEGITIMIZING her as a serious player in the presidential sweepstakes especially after The Undefeated is seen around the country. And secondly by not taking the subject up, the media also wants to hide the fact that a conspiracy even exists or that the media is part of the conspiracy for fear of tearing the GOP apart by causing a tremendous backlash to occur among the grassroots against Romney and finally the media doesn't want to divulge the existence of the conspiracy to protect the diabolical strategy of the conspirators behind the scenes to take Palin down and to deny Palin and her supporters and the grassroots an opportunity to mount a successful counterattack.
In summary, the media is deliberately avoiding any mention that Sarah Palin is now the main rival to Mitt Romney and will be until the end of the campaign. The MSM must really believe that a good number of GOP primary voters are naive, gullible or simple-minded enough to believe such BS. Unfortunately the media might be correct. I cannot prove it: I have consistently claimed that the GOP primary voters are a lot smarter and wiser and more astute than Democratic drones, but hey I could be wrong about that. Perhaps on our side we have in proportion just as many stupid people as they do on the Left. In 6-9 months we'll all find out.
Did you post this because you are supporting Romney? Or Gov. Palin?
Or what? Did you write this? If not where did it come from?
In interest full disclosure I am a Palinista, but above all I seek clarity.
Myth Romney has got nothing.
Everybody knows it.
He cant come close to BSing like Obama does.
We cant baffle em with BS. We need a contender.
Who wants a BShitter?
MR Mittcare and Global Warming can kiss my arse.
The guy flat out sucks
Oh PALINista, at first I read that as PaulINSTA.
Glad for that clarification.
Only LSM idiots failed to understand that was NOT a compliment...
PS Know you understood what Rush meant, techno...
The media wants the GOP primary voters to forget the countless number or articles written by its members touting possible replacements (flavor of the week or month) for Mitt out of the GOP establishment bullpen like Daniels, Christie, Barbour, Pence, Demint, Thune, Pawlenty etc).
Why has the media suddenly embraced Mitt?
Because it has come to the realization that Romney, warts and all, is the only chance the anti-Palin forces have to stop Sarah Palin from winning the GOP nomination and now being reconciled to that truth the media is now dedicated to getting Romney across the finish line ahead of Palin in spite of Romneycare and Mitt’s previous flip-flops?
I have spent the better part of four hours tonight reading up on the “rising star” and seeming adoration of “conservatives” for michele bachmann, romney’s secret anti-palin weapon. It’s been odd because what I see is a michele bachmann who wanted and coveted the position as the face of the Tea Party, but couldn’t quite pull it off because michele is in a narrow niche and Sarah Palin is national, even global.
bachmann stands for bachmann. Palin stands for America. It’s that simple.
Bachmann could not have gone to NC and helped elect Nicky Haley like Sarah did, but Palin could go to MN and help elect michele bachmann...who is so loyal she has her campaign manager stabbing Sarah in the back.
So bachmann is using daggers and cliches to sound like a candidate using 30 second soundbites but displaying not ONE qualification to be president except she is a woman as if that very thing completely negates the “need” for a Sarah Palin candidacy . oh boy. I would bet right here and right now, that if it had been bachmann who was in NH the day romney announced, no one would have even known it.
Sarah Palin is the ONLY Conservative who has actually challenged romneycare and state mandates. Even Pawlenty who has barked like a poodle about obamneycare refused to pursue it.
Here is the gist. There is NO RACE right now. GOP is salivating at perry possibly jumping in, and maybe THAT would solve the Palin problem. Perry is GWB with better hair. It is almost comical to see the stalwarts of *compassionate conservatism* with their tongues hanging out drooling at the perry prospect.
NONE of them realize that the more they try to diminish Palin, the more they build her up.
I am reminded of scenes from movies where guerilla armies have dug into the ground in open fields and covered themelves with sod, hid in trees and brush quietly, quietly awaiting an advancing enemy marching confidently to what they perceived was certain victory.
Meanwhile, they do not seem to realize that we are in a REVOLUTION and we are keeping our powder dry, staying quietly in our homes and leaving extra money in our checking accounts, waiting to volunteer and hit the streets running when the call comes in every state, every nook and cranny. We are an army and we will make damned sure that Sarah Palin remains UNDEFEATED.
Sites like this one, the Tea Party Movement, the Palin supporter sites and other supporters and conservatives need to get together, SOON, and start planning the campaign and how to deal with the malicious press, unions, NGOs, Black Panthers, nutroots, DNC operatives and others. This will be a civil war and we need to be ready for it.
From FR November 8, 2010:
The truth of how the GOP feels about Palin:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-gop/2623677/posts
It might be a contest to write about...but Ms. Palin isn’t running.
Mint has a few negatives too:
He has been the invisible man and mute for 3 years while Obama made the US into a bankrupt nationalist socialist police state fighting 4 wars (Iraq, Afghan, Libya, MX Border Fast and Furious).
Mint is dull dull dull.
Mint has no plan to fix the economy.
Mint is a tax and spend ‘republican’.
Mint has no vision for America.
Mint is out of touch everywhere except in Mass, loves state health care.
And wait until the media freaks out over the mormon thing, he might as well be a Rosicrucian Illuminati Bilderburger.
I really like the rousing Palin stories. I happen to prefer Ron Paul (let’s stay on point), but Palin is my second choice, and I really like the stories the Palin supporters tell. They’re just more inspiring.
“We are an army and we will make damned sure that Sarah Palin remains UNDEFEATED.” Great stuff.
I’d consider making some noise, without Palin’s instructions. I bet Sarah might want some votes at the Ames Straw Poll. Are there message boards where sarah palin supporters can plan out strategies for getting Iowans to Ames in August? Where Sarah Palin fans can start IDing Iowans, to drag them to the polls?
Ackshully, I think that might be in the works. I am in PA so I am already working here.
If it's truly a civil war, bring loads of ammo, guns alone won't git'r done.
At last check, before the boat sank and I lost all my guns and ammo, I had about 5,000 rounds.
But not any real support amongst the heart and soul of his base constituency, the Tea Party, which will decide the fate of the GOP.
A man does impose his beloved gay marriage by
overturning a Constitution.
A man does not impose RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE
using felons and lies and manipulation.
A man does not install Democrats-for-criminals to
let lose murderers to kill the Maucks.
A man would not put his ill wife through a losing
campaign over and over.
ROMNEY IS NOT A MAN ... but instead an Obama-minimi.
Call me Pollyanna, but I think we’ll rise to the task when Palin declares. We have the technology, we have the smarts, we know who is the enemy, and we know what is their plan of attack.
All we need is the leadership in place.
We’ll bust them open like a rotten watermelon.
"Perry is the King of the RINOs with his Nanny State Policies and will be destroyed by Palin in the GOP Primaries and be little more than a speed bump on Sarahs path to the White House."
In the interest of complete accuracy, I would phrase it thus:
Perry and Romney are the Kings of the RINOs with their Nanny State Policies, and will both be destroyed by Palin in the GOP Primaries, and be little more than insignificant speed bumps on Sarahs laser-focused and ingeniously innovative path to the White House.
Palin promised that, "if she runs", we should expect the unexpected from her; that hers would be a not-before seen set of unpredictable strategies designed specifically to circumvent and thwart the Lefty-&-Rino-&-Misleadia plans for disrupting or impairing her serious candidacy. What we have seen thus far from Palin are three moves, two of which are virtually untraceable to her...
...all of which have stood the Lefty-&-Rino-&-Misleadia disruptors on their rubbery jug-ears, led by the all-too-predictable rings through their piggy little snouts, as they thrust her into the spotlight in an ever-increasingly positive light before America and The World.
1) The Bus Tour
2) "The Undefeated"
3) The Email Dump
For every Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, and Rachel Maddow out there, there are several Stephen Bannons, Rush Limbaughs, Mark Levins and Andrew Breitbarts just chomping at the bit to play their uber-effective roles in setting straight the "Palin Truth" in a way that every Conservative and every Independent voter will have no choice but to acknowledge and give ultimate credence to.
And she hasn't even announced yet. This supposedly "ignorant ditz" is in fact a femme politicale juggernaut who is so much smarter than her would-be detractors that it isnt even a fair fight, despite that virtually the entire GOP, DNC and Lamestream Misleadia are in unison arrayed against her. Think about it. It reminds me of the old saw; "They have her surrounded. She's got them right where she wants 'em."
She will never again be underestimated. Not after 2012.
I have said it before, and I'll repeat, for the record:
It is not "Game on, it's "Game over".
8^D
In other words it is what it is. Palin has set the stage for this to be the only counterattack the powers that be as by her actions. She is making them react to her.
the fact that the gop establishment has trotted out candidate after candidate in the hopes that Palin supporters will abandon her tells me their counterattack is not working. that her support is not going anywhere until she makes a decision. gov Palin is proving her strength everyday by remained relevant in the face of the counterattack.
Once she announces this counterattack fails and her numbers should jump. As more polls show the fight between Mitt and Palin conservatives should abandon Bachmann, Cain and other conservatives and rally around the only conservative (Palin) that can beat mitt.
They can try to hide this fight now because Palin has chosen not to engage yet. It is a function of her strategy nothing more nothing less.
