Leftists Using Ayn Rand to Smear Republicans, Conservatives
Amerisrael ^

Posted on 06/08/2011 2:27:35 PM PDT by Amerisrael

Don't let the name "American Values Network" hoodwink you.

This organization is run by a bunch of dhimmicratic leftists like Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.

Recently they put together a video that contains a small segment of Mike Wallace's interview with Ayn Rand. The segment showcases Ayn Rand's hatred for religion, God and Christianity.

Then the video features a photo of Rush Limbaugh and quotes him as saying that Ayn Rand was "brilliant". Completely removed from the context of course.

What the AVN makers of this video did was to feature a brief segment of Rand bashing God--and then--a photo of Rush Limbaugh quoted as saying "brilliant".

As if to imply that Limbaugh believes Ayn Rand to be brilliant because of her rejection of God.

If you can't win an argument with facts, then distort the facts. The method used most vigorously by the leftist/islamist alliance in America.

There is also a brief spot of Rand Paul likewise giving praise to Ayn Rand.

Just because Limbaugh, and other conservatives, may agree with some  take of Ayn Rand on fiscal matters pertaining to free-market capitalism, that does not equate with an endorsement of her rejection of God and hatred for Christianity.

Unbelievably, that is exactly the smear this video wants to imply.

Seen first at roshpina.

Shouldn’t people be liable for that kinda stuff? Freedom of speach is fine but when people cut and paste video/audio lies I think someone whould be held responsible.

Thom Hartmann has been doing the same thing on his radio show.

Didn't know either Rush or Rand was running for office. Otherwise who cares?

The whole men are gods thing is spiritual poison, and she ended up barking mad.

It’s great for folks to be skeptical of government programs and intervention, but there are much better ways of getting there than via Ayn Rand’s brand of spiritual poison.

Straight Nietszche in Rand's case (and he really did end up barking mad, literally). She tried grafting Nietszche onto Aristotle when she became disenchanted with Aristotle's conclusion that God must exist, yet convinced that Aristotle's logical system was the proper underpinning of her philosophy. The problem turned out to be that it didn't really solve any of the issues that had led Aristotle to that conclusion.

I'll happily go on record as stating that Rand was brilliant, but she was no theologian and her understanding of Christian dogma was embarrassingly superficial. That she was a Russian Jew who had decided to be an atheist at 13 is no real excuse for the lack of scholarship in that regard. IMHO, of course.

By doing this they hope to convince conservative Christians to turn to the “religious” left? More likely it will backfire, and some of their flock will start questioning the gospel according to Marx and the deification of Obama.

Exactly. bttt

Now, one thing individualism implies -- as we shall see -- is God. Therefore, ideologies that promote individualism in the absence of God (and this includes some varieties of conservatism, e.g., Ayn Rand) are not only intellectually bizarre but frankly destructive and disorganizing. Pagan statism and genuine theoliberalism stand at antipodes. But it is equally true -- at least in my opinion -- that certain strands of the so-called "religious right" are not at all conservative, but quite plainly warped products of modernity, since they stand outside the perennial Tradition.

i agree. i find the audacity of the left amazing, when they attack and try to destroy Christianity, then use our our scripture, to try to justify their agenda.

in the Health Care oral argument, the GOVERNMENT lawyer actually trashed Ayn Rand. (many court watchers were very surprised at that insertion.) The left HATES her. which tells me a lot...

Ayn Rand was an atheist, but she advocated some of the same principles most freepers do. freedom. personal responsiblity. small government.

yet this article from last night, calls her a Satanist!
(and mostly buccaneer81 was the only person brave enough to stand up for some fairness.

“But to be a follower of both Rand and Christ is not possible. “
“Few conservatives will fall completely under Rand’s diabolic sway. “
