The 1965 Immigration Act: Anatomy of a Disaster
FrontPage Magazine ^ | December 10, 2002 | Ben Johnson

Posted on 05/12/2011 3:09:17 AM PDT by Jacquerie

America's current mass immigration mess is the result of a change in the laws in 1965. Prior to 1965, despite some changes in the 50's, America was a low-immigration country basically living under immigration laws written in 1924.

The record of debate over this seismic change in immigration policy reveals that left-wingers, in their visceral flight to attack "discrimination," did not reveal the consequences of their convictions. Instead, their spokesmen set out to assuage concerned traditionalists with a litany of lies and wishful thinking.

Senate floor manager and Camelot knight-errant Ted Kennedy, D-Massachusetts, assured jittery senators that "our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually."

Not only has the bill failed in its stated purpose, it has realized many of its critics' worst nightmares. Concern mounted that this bill would radically change the ethnic composition of the United States. Such things were still considered legitimate concerns in 1965, in the same Congress that had just passed the key civil rights legislation of the 1960's.

Ted Kennedy also claimed the 1965 amendments "will not cause American workers to lose their jobs." Teddy cannot have it both ways: either the immigrant will remain unemployed and become a public charge, or he will take a job that otherwise could have gone to a native American.

The Mexican invasion didn't just happen. Remind your out of work liberal acquaintances it was orchestrated by patriots like Ted Kennedy and Daniel Inouye.

Bob Grant on NYC radio talked about this immigration law back in the 70's and how it was ruining the country.

It's a disgrace.

Even from his grave, Teddy is still wreaking havoc on us.

Good ol’ Teddy “the cold-blooded woman-killer” Kennedy...still screwing America and Americans from the grave.

Hope you’re rotting in hell, you scumbag. But that’s for God to decide.

Of course, Reagan’s Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, with its massive amnesty, had nothing whatever to do with the present situation, now did it!? /s

If the country and the people are going to deal with these matters, we ought at least to be honest with ourselves about where these problems come from.

This was Teddy’s real legacy:
A huge time-delayed hand grenade set to detonate years after its passage.
Teddy’s reason: Anger that Chappaquidic (Thanks, Mary Jo) meant that he would never be Prexy and destroy the country the good ‘ol Obama way.

The whole kennedy family is an example of aberrant DNA. What a bunch of misguided losers. “Camelot” my butt...more like “Destroy-Free-America-a-lot”.

I posted a column dealing with the granddaddy immigration law, not a treatise on the immigration problem.

Save your snark for someone who cares.

Chappaquiddick happened during the moon landing- summer of 1969. Four years after the suicidal immigration bill was passed.

The law was changed because actuaries for the Social Security Ponzi scheme were able to see even in the early '60s that the Social Secuity/Welfare State being built (The Great Society) could not continue to work without a continuous and large increase in population.

America's birth rate was already in decline due in part to increasingly common abortion. We have since then aborted over 50 million American children who had to be replaced by someone if the SSI/Welfare State Ponzi scheme were to avoid immediate collapse.

Our elites chose to radically change the demography of our country so to enable the conversion to Socialism.

The Abortion/Welfare State/Immigration triangle.

Abortion is it's own reward.

Have a question..hope that someone here can provide the info.

During a discussion about immigration with some friends yesterday, I wasn't sure on the regulations that pertain to family members of new citizens. IOW, when a person becomes a citizen legally, what family members is he/she allowed to bring to this country with them....and what is their status?

I’m fairly certain that’s in the ‘86 act; Mazolli-Simpson?
And I also believe a legal immigrant can sponsor any immediate family member, defined to inlude grandparents/children; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews.

It can take years to bring in such family members legally within the quotas for say India or Mexico. So the legal immigrant will help the family member get here illegally. Goes on all the time. Or has the family member come here on a visa and he/she never leaves so becomes an illegal alien
Every minute of the day the illegal immigrants and the legal immigrants are plotting to bring more of "their people" in here by any means they can
