Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory... before he even decides to run. It's amazing to me how he can void any potential good will with signing the bill defunding Planned Parenhood by just opening up his mouth. Amazing.

I will assume that you do not know that Arne Duncan is and has been under constant attack from the left, in particular the Illinois Socialist Union and the Chicago Teachers Union (which is run by declared socialists).

Daniels is in agreement with policies that the left is doing its best to resist.

Which side are you on? Daniels' or the Illinois Socialist Union?

I am missing something.

This article is referring to him commending Obama and Sec. Duncan on education in a speech. Nowhere does it talk about Planned Parenthood or defunding it.

Politicians make political calculations in order to gain power. Most politicians on both sides of the aisle are just megalomaniacs with no particular value system or ideology. They do or say whatever they think will get them elected. In this instance, Mitch Daniels miscalculated. There are some of us who do stand for something.

Humblegunner, I owe you an apology. Remember when I argued with you on the whole subject of excerpting blogs? Well, I was wrong. You were right. (I hope you don’t get banned as a result of this apology. :) )

Sigh. Why do you focus much more on words rather than deeds?

The fact is, thanks to Daniels, Indiana has become the first state to institute a state-wide voucher program. That has got to be the biggest conservative victory on education policy over the last 20 years!

But no, that's not important to you. No, to idiots like you, what matters more are a couple remarks at a speach in DC. Amazing.

Just when the Indiana Legislature gives Governor Mitch Daniels (R-IN) a gift allowing him to sign a bill defunding Planned Parenthood it looked like the truce was over.

Well, not quite.

Here’s a suggestion, conservativehawkeye.

Have your friend sign up on FR and post his blog entry in full.

Then there’s no fear of copyright violation and those of us who likes what he writes might go over and peruse his site.

You didn’t even get the title right. “Mitch Daniels Jumps The Shark on Education”.

If you are only going to excerpt one line from something, you could at least get the title right.

Hmmmm, given that you're new here, and I was once a hawkeye fan, I'll cut you some slack. Perhaps you don't understand the etiquette of Free Republic and blog postings. Excerpted blogs are not a popular thing unless they're from a major national figure. If Mr. Vander Hart would like his blog posted on Free Republic, he's free to do so in full. I notice that Mr. Vander Hart is big on promoting himself on the web. Blog excerpts drive traffic away from this site; that's not what Free Republic is here for. It's a place for discussions of all things conservative.

The owner of Free Republic, Mr. Jim Robinson has been quite clear on this point:

I have no complaint if a good conservative blogger posts his own material to FR, not as an excerpt to drive hits and discussion back to his blog, but rather to impart useful information to OUR readers and to promote and join in on the discussion and conservative activism HERE on FR.

If a blogger can’t or refuses do that, and if he constantly complains or fights with our participants over it, then I’d just as soon he doesn’t post here. It’s not my job to make his content or his presentation or cooperation acceptable to our readers. That’s his job. And if he cannot do it or refuses to do it and continues posting brief excerpts only and obviously attempting to draw away our participants while loudly complaining about it, then I have no sympathy for his complaints and the more apt I am to ban his account and blog.

As you are an acquaintance of Mr. Vander Hart, perhaps he would give you his permission to post his entire blog posts on Free Republic. Getting such (inter)national exposure seems it could be something he'd like.
