Osama Bin Laden's Compound Already Mapped on Google

Bin Laden's compound is just north, as you can see below, of a hospital for women and children and a cinema. About 800 feet to the west is the Cantt Police Station. There's little information available about the station online, but a Flickr photo taken in February 2007 shows it in rough condition. The station, at that time, was "included in the demolition list of the provincial government works department," the caption claims.

For fellow map-o-philes...I was curious, so starting with the above you will find what they identify as the compound here:

Google Map

Conveniently located near St. Peters church, hospitals.

Abbottabad Golf Club is just up the road ;-)

(Evidently someone labeled it as "Amusement Park" but that's evidently been taken off by Google)

Ignore the red balloon. The compound is dead-center.

May not have been an amusement park, but it did have a shooting gallery!

Pakistani was part of India and was claimed by the British, for many years.

Ehhh... I can’t see anything in the photo that matches the images being shown in the news at all.

Agreed. I did a little searching around Abbottabad. This "compound", on the east side of Abbottabad, looks like a much better match for the Defense Department photo shown here as photo #12.

The Google satellite photo seems to be quite a bit older. The Defense Department photo shows more recent construction.
