Jamie Hyneman is on the right, beside costar Adam Savage.
Register UK - Jamie Hyneman has been working with the US government to devise lightweight armor for US military vehicles in Afghanistan and Iraq, all thanks to his work with materials such as TNT and C4 in the frankly unconventional setting of MythBusters.
Hyneman's armor had to be ultra-lightweight so the vehicle doesn't get bogged down, but also capable of standing up the shrapnel and blast damage from a powerful IED while protecting the humans inside the vehicle from the pressure wave accompanying a blast.
Hyneman was contacted by a military subcontractor working with the Office of Naval Research to participate in the armor project. He works out of his business, M5 Industries - the San Francisco studio that's featured in most episodes of MythBusters, and that's a hobbyist's dream of workbenches, power tools, and sheet metal.

They are both libs, but if they are trying to help the military, I will give them a pass.
Actually they had some interesting results from just simple off the shelf readily available materials such as matted ceramic tiles.
Now all they need is a super fast enhanced synthetic corn starch material that can change as fast or faster its density and elasticity than high speed projectiles. Especially penetrator rounds.
They have a unique approach that draws you in, its a tossup what lies in their future, more drama or more professionalism.
Just cover all of the planes and vehicles with the combination of sawdust and ice mixture. Should do great in the desert! It actually doesn’t melt terribly fast, but I’m sure it would be rather heavy.
I guess Pycrete (the wood-pulp/ice mix) could be remixed every day, and perhaps it would keep the inside of the vehicle cool. Might save on the weight of aircon.
....... except maybe a young athletic pool boy, another story,
Sorry to hear about that.
Women. You can’t live with them, and if you bury them too shallow, they stink.
Thanks for the morning start-up.
ROFL
The Discovery Channel had another show (besides Mythbusters) Howe & Howe Tech, Black Op Bros. 2 twin brothers who have a small manufacturing firm that builds ATV’s for the military, police and commercial. This included armored vehicles.

It is a much more intelligent show than the lefties Myth Busters... of which many of their busting looks like it could be busted with some smart engineers (i.e. smash lab).
Agreed
They both love their guns, though! LOL!
They will never tackle the “Global Warming is Caused by Human Activity” myth.
They only tackle myths that can be tested. AGW cannot be falsified; every observation is "consistent" with the hypothesis.
They might both be libs, but you'd never know it from their programs; they deal with science and technology. Only every now and then, when they're talking about 'green' stuff, do they ever even wander close to anything political, and I can't think of a specific instance when they've done so.
Apparently you missed the episode from the White House starring Barry Soetoro. Before that shark jumping airing, they publicized this on FB and the comments were running at least 20:1 against having Obama on the show. I didn't watch it and have not seen MB ever since.
There was a group from the Mythbusters at the Jimmy Norton show at Cobb’s in San Francisco a few weeks back. I thought that was interesting given Norton’s act.
